"The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It's the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared." Words from a famous author. What I'm about to share with you is a story of the genesis, a story of the past, a story that can't be undone anymore. A story of happiness, sadness, tragedy, misery, pain, failure, success and a lot more... A story that has already reached its conclusion, but it would be a shame to be lost to the sands of time. This tragic circus play has already ended, and the cover has already fallen onto the stage. But I can't just leave you dear readers like this, no, so to sate a curiosity that doesn't even exist, a couple of words from key members of this performance, words that couldn't be said or left unspoken...
"When the first light shattered the silence?... That's an odd question to ask, we humans have not been born for so long, compared to the vast universe, but we have lived with utmost honor in the face of the mistreatment thrown in our face. But if I have to point out, the light that shattered the silence for me was definitely her arrival, that's when everything changed for me... And I don't regret the choices I have made to set in motion the future. Do you? My Dear Adonai? - Kathlyn Duska, Visionary
"Mother... I'm so sorry... that I couldn't kill you myself. And I'm so grateful that your wretched soul is finally gone from this world... thank you... - Varuna, Leviathan Lord
"They thought I was a witch... Can you believe that Adonai? The audacity... When looking back at everything... all I did was to protect humanity... yet they... they... they twisted everything... I went down in history as a horrific monster... but it is partially right, after all I am a monster" - Abigail Williams, [■■■■■■■■■■ Vessel]
"Now, now I know all of this may seem random to all of you reading this but heed my word, you'll want to come back to this eventually, and you'll have a new perspective on what our incompetent author tried to convey. I'm sure you'll quite enjoy my company on this journey and I can't wait to make a mess for my greater purpose." - [■■■■■] / Ragnarok, Ringmaster / One of the four Cataclysms of the Cosmos
"... And with this I'll take my leave, I'm sure you'll see more of me, after all I'm the protagonist of this story... - Adonai Melek, Archetype [■■■■■■■■■■] [Former] ; [■■■] [Current]
Adonai:
Boring, sheer absolute boredom... god damn it... I'm so tired man, I can almost feel myself fall into the deep darkness...
My college 'career' so far has been what you would normally expect, everyday goes like this: get up, go to class, where we study and study...
All of this to potentially have a normal job in a broken system, trying to strive for a good payment in today's day and age.
Most people in this place should already have a general idea about what they want to do... But I don't... If I have to put myself somewhere I would say I don't have aspirations nor dreams, nor motivation to look for either of them.
But I'm not in a doom spiral, regarding this at least, I'm content with how my life is going, as a more or less outcast with few friends spending most of my days reading the books my father left behind in his library and telling myself that when the time comes I'll figure it out.
"Hey, what's with that gloomy face, try to smile a bit more, it wouldn't hurt ya. Also fyi we're not in class anymore, you've been walking as if you're on autopilot all this time, tell me tell me what is in your mind at this very moment, I want to know!"
The voice that keeps pestering me is Kathlyn, a classmate and one of my few friends. She's a short girl with dark blonde hair, wearing the university uniform, a white shirt with a black skirt and a black jacket that has the stack of books, logo of the university on it. One of the most generic things you would see everywhere.
But this is a somewhat prestigious place, so gotta give them that.
The sight of us together to other people is probably strange to say the least, a beautiful young energetic girl with good grades, that's also coming from a wealthy family spending time with me, a not so tall black haired guy that doesn't stand out and might as well pass off as a stranger and on top of that an orphan.
"Just thinking about how meaningless everything we do is, most of the jobs nowadays are handed based on your connections yet we still try so hard, or well they do. I'm not saying it's wrong, just saying it's meaningless, just like how meaningless it is to think about it. I guess."
"Has someone ever told you that sometimes not telling the first thing that comes into your mind might be better?" She looked at me while purposefully blinking fast as to take a hint.
"Well, you asked."
"Here you go again, you might be right but it doesn't hurt trying, does it now? After all... we're young only once, so we might as well try and enjoy what little time we have before we get to deal with the adult world, unless some sort of apocalypse comes upon us that changes everything."
It's not hard to figure out this girl, most of the time she's talking like she's a carefree student who cares about having fun and living in the moment, but she has her own fear of the future.
That and also she loves dragging me around a lot, and spending time around me, I'm not clueless but I'm not eager to jump into something I'm not 100% sure of it, she also hates being ignored.
Either way she has a good job at her father's company already secured so I think she should worry less, but I would never dare to say that out loud. For all it is worth, I value my life at least a little bit.
"Well if an apocalypse comes upon us, that at least will trigger an interesting chain of events, even if it might lead to our ultimate doom, at least we will get to see a change in this world that's been stagnant for years."
"You're right, but enough with the gloomy mood, we should talk about what we're gonna do later!"
"We?"
"We."
"What do you mean we?"
"It means you and me."
"Why?"
"If you're gonna spend one more day in that dusty library I'll burn it to the ground, you need to spend more time in the sunlight."
"But we are already outside, we're walking in the same direction, this is enough sunlight for me."
*Sigh* "You really need more hobbies other than reading."
"No, no I don't think so."
The library, a place behind where I live, a dusty, granted, old place that has stacked books on top of books. My memory is a bit blurry, especially when it's about that place. So I can't really say much about when it was built or how it came to be almost as big as our house.
There were books without dates, written in languages I couldn't recognize, as I child I thought it was normal but then I realized it isn't.
But that place, yes, is the only thing he left me before his disappearance, a lifelong work of his. Some books were even written by himself, some by other people, friends or just strangers.
What I can tell you is that he was a great man, and he used to travel a lot, documenting places and study legends, that's what he told me, and one day he was gone. He has been taking care of me alone for thirteen years, my mother passed away when I was four, and it's been three years since he has left. Now at twenty years old most of my days are spent there reading through his lifework.
"The library, Kath, is very precious to me, is one of the only connections I still have to my parents... I just want to spend as much time there as possible, before I have to move on."
I didn't mean to make the mood so heavy but I have my own issues. I'm truly grateful for this girl, without her... my life would be a bit less bright
"..."
Our homes are close, but the rest of that trip was silent.
Silent as if the rest of the world could hear the feelings of grief deep inside my heart, and her feelings of pity towards me.
As we reached the library I opened the door "Welcome to the humble... 'THUD' Auch".
My knees hit the floor before I even understood what had happened.
