Raven found herself standing before room number 001, her gaze lingering on the number longer than necessary.
She drew in a slow breath and raised her hand.
The first knock landed softly against the door. There was no response.
She knocked again, a little firmer this time. Still, silence answered her.
On the third attempt, before her knuckles could touch the door, the one opposite opened with a quiet click. A voice came through the speaker, calm and controlled.
"Please come inside."
It was Jacob.
Raven turned at once and stepped into the room. The difference between Aidan's penthouse and this spare suite was immediately apparent. The space felt functional, stripped of the quiet luxury that usually surrounded him, as though everything unnecessary had been removed to make room for something more urgent.
"You can meet him now. He is awake," the nurse said, her tone steady and clinical.
Raven gave a brief nod and moved toward the bedroom.
