Raven stood at the head of the long conference table, her presence alone enough to keep the room unnervingly still. Sunlight filtered through the tall glass windows behind her, but it did little to soften the sharpness in her expression.
Across from her, three lawyers sat stiffly, files open in front of them, pens held but unmoving, as if they were waiting for her permission to begin.
She did not give them time to settle.
"Increase the compensation demand," Raven said, her voice calm and steady. "Three times the original amount."
The main lawyer adjusted his glasses and glanced briefly at the man beside him before speaking. "Miss Raven, if we push it that far, they will not be able to settle. It could turn into a criminal case. They may end up…"
"Behind bars," another voice added.
Raven's gaze shifted.
The man who spoke sat slightly behind the others, less composed, his posture lacking restraint. There was a certain eagerness in him that did not belong in this room.
