Chapter 181 - Chapter 181

The garden was flourishing with the most majestic plants. Shinobu gazed upon the flowers reflecting a shimmer of light on each of their petals. With a smile of contentment from seeing such a fascinating view, the violette snapped a few photos of the flowers circled around her, including the ferns and shrubs lying around in the same spot. They too had their specialty and Shinobu wanted to make sure that every plant contributed to her album.

A passion that came in the form of her own creation. She was committed to grow this lavish garden within these pages. Shinobu flipped through the album, visualizing the arrangement of the pictures and the reaction she was going to get from the Agriculture club who hold deep respect for her enthusiasm that revolved around this interest of hers.

Standing between the largest trees in this section of the park, Douma admired the violette engrossed with her passion. The way she could gracefully connect with nature and even form a connection with every form of life.

And so he began approaching her, although there was a barrier of friction in between them, with Shinobu attempting to avoid him, this wasn't the solution to this arising problem, which has always been a temporary placeholder to test their resilience through this challenge; If Douma could just reach out to her and help her get through this confinement that's preventing her from overcoming this very force that was trying to drag her into the hollows, such hesitance would never show itself and this will be the last time it happens.

Taking the pictures she needed to complete the album, Shinobu heard rustling from the grass and spun her head around. She widened her eyes at the familiar figure approaching her, stumped for words, because of this sudden change in the atmosphere, waiting to see what she was going to do.

Usually, Douma would be meet with excitement even though Shinobu denied having that kind of reaction whenever she saw him, but he knew, that was exactly how she felt.

"Shinobu..." The blonde said calmly, he stood just a few meters away from the violette who met his iridescent gaze.

"Listen, I don't wanna be left out anymore. Sometimes people don't realize the most intricate details at first, but I'll just say it. Staying away from the squad has given me the chance to discover the true meaning of inner contentment. If that makes sense, because it does to me... at least now." The violette said, immediately looking away when silence dawned once again.

That's not true Shinobu, I know it isn't. You're just sugarcoating your own response to this conflict. Douma was certain the violette was in distress, that melancholic look in her gaze that couldn't look into his for long because of the despair she concealed.

"Shinobu you can't keep lying to yourself. There's a solution you're looking for but isolating yourself from those who care about you isn't going to work. I don't want you to surround yourself in a sea of loneliness, that's why I want to help you find this solution you seek, if you'd just let me protect you..."

Narrowing her eyes, the violette clenched her fist. "Why are you here? Douma you don't know what you're talking about!"

The blonde took a few steps closer to the violette, the plants in the garden swaying about in a melodic rhythm.

Arms wrapped around Shinobu, this sense of comfort drove away the grief. She felt safe.

Douma brought Shinobu closer, "Because I don't want you to feel alone." He said in a soothing and reassuring tone.

The violette embraced this security that the angel provided her with. This was going to be a significant moment in their lives. One that they had never expected until now.

"I'll protect you, always."

The clouds in the sky hovered closer to one another, blocking the sunlight that left bright streaks on the leaves and grass in the garden a while ago.

It wasn't long until it started pouring, Douma immediately pulled Shinobu closer to him so she wouldn't get drenched, the violette huddled into the angel's embrace. The rain wasn't ruthless but Shinobu couldn't help but worry about Douma even though he was able to tolerate the cold and such weather conditions.

Just like how Douma cared about her, Shinobu cared about him too.

The blonde glanced at Shinobu who seemed to have something to say, he hoped this wouldn't lead to another argument in the middle of the storm, because he needed the time to explain everything he'd been wanting to say.

"Douma... I know you didn't mean it that way..."

This was a good sign, at least she wasn't mad at him anymore.

We need to discuss certain things Shinobu, I'm glad we've reconciled, I was worried we'd never get the chance to just... talk about anything. Douma's iridescent gaze met Shinobu's violet gaze once again.

"From now on, we're inseparable." Douma spoke, keeping his gaze locked with Shinobu's, "And what I mean by that is, we have to keep a lookout for each other. No one gets left behind or pushed aside, we're in this together and I mean it. I really do."

Silence, before Shinobu looked up at Douma after giving his words much thought. Well staring at the ground wasn't going to give him the response he needed to hear because what she was about to say would give him that convincement, however the look of concern that she had meant that there should be more to this course of action.

"Count me in of course, it's just... this isn't going to be as easy as it sounds. You're aware of that aren't you?" Shinobu tried to sound as composed as possible, because she too knew the weight of this initiative of Douma's.

"I'm prepared for this. Shinobu, your safety is my responsibility." Douma replied in a soothing voice.

That was the truth, if anything happens to those closest to him, he'd be questioned, the abilities he's been given enhances the safety of those around him. Taking things lightly would only lead to consequences that he could always avoid.

"We're going to make things right."

The rain stopped and the bright streaks of sunlight in the sky returned. Douma and Shinobu stood in the middle of the garden, relieved that they managed to get through this obstacle that had been in the way for quite a while.
