Chapter 55 - Three Targets

Isaac walked into the council room.

Different sounds echo throughout the room coming into a messy cacophony.

But Isaac didn't worry about any of that. He simply kept walking until he came face-to-face with somebody.

"I am back".

"I see".

Isaac greeted Wake of Ruin and was quickly met with a reply.

"So what's the situation? Why did you call me back".

Wake of Ruin kept silent for a few seconds before turning his attention to one of the screens nearby.

"There has been an increase in Nightmare Creatures of a higher Class than was expected".

The screen flickered revealing three images.

Wake of Ruin pointed at one of the images as it suddenly zoomed inward, enlarging it.

"Among them are three that are considered our highest priority due to how dangerous they are. The one that you see on the screen we have named the Father of Wounds".

Isaac looked at the screen as he saw the hideous creature.

The creature looked like a long sludge of deep crimson liquid, but even though the image taken was grainy, he could still see the two silver eyes that gleamed from what looked like its head.

looking at the abomination, Isaac couldn't help but feel a sense of familiarity with it.

"This creature is what's responsible for creating the Children of Wounds. In the beginning, there were two of them, a male and female, but we were able to kill the female one, the one that you see is the male variant".

Hearing the explanation, Isaac finally understood why the creature looked so familiar.

"The creature itself is not powerful physically for a Corrupted, but the issue lies within its acidic blood. Even Ascended Memories were being easily broken down. Not to mention the creature is a Tyrant which even without the female can give birth to mini serpents of blood although they don't seem to live long".

Isaac listened with intrigue.

This creature never existed within the original story.

Or at least he had never heard of it.

'Technically I am in Antarctica much earlier than the main cast so of course there should be some differences'.

It was still annoying though.

"The next creature is a Frost Drake".

The screen flickered as it shifted to another image.

On the screen was what looked like an eastern dragon but with no wings.

It had baby blue scales and sharp red eyes.

"It's able to shoot a blue flame that freezes anything it comes into contact with even energy based attacks".

Isaac raised a brow.

'That does should really difficult to deal with but lucky for me my Aspect can't use energy attacks'.

As if reading his thoughts Wake of Ruin spoke.

"Getting close is also a problem as it can let out a silent roar that paralyze you if you reach a certain range. The only good thing is that it is a Fallen Monster we-".

"Wait for a moment".

Isaac interrupted.

"If its only a Monster how does it have two abilities? I can understand the breath attack due to it being a drake which can have a connection to dragons but that roar seems like a bit much".

Wake of Ruin simply nodded.

"We thought the same as well so I went to go investigate personally but from what I can see its movements and behavers line more with a Monster than a Demon or Devil....".

He stayed silent for a moment before continuing.

"....We also have other ways to verify it".

The screen flickered.

Now a massive, muscular, gorilla-like mutant covered in thick fur and jagged ice was displayed.

Its shoulders, forearms, and fists are encased in thick, spiky plates of glowing, light-blue ice while two large curved horns sweeping backward from its head, heavily coated in frost.

'That's huge!'

Isaac looked at the image warily.

"This is a Winter Troll. It's a Awakened Titan tha-".

Isaac raised his hand causing Wake of Ruin to look at him in silence.

"You said these three were the most dangerous. I understand the first two but this thing is only an Awakened. Even as a Titan a standard squad leaded by a Master should be enough".

Isaac said.

Wake of Ruin nodded.

"Under normal circumstances you would be correct but this creature is different".

Isaac looked at Wake of Ruin with a plain look.

"It's ability allows it to syphon the inertia of anything it comes into physical contact with even projectiles".

Isaac was somewhat taken aback.

An ability like that was dangerous especially when most Awakened fought in close quarters combat.

Isaac frowned suddenly.

'When did I start to get this arrogant?'.

Isaac was concerned.

'Does that mean even with [Ascetic] my mind can still be influenced to the point of arrogance?'.

Isaac broke out of his thoughts and he focused back on the situation.

'I need to keep myself in check. Even if I read the novel and have had good luck so far that doesn't mean I won't slip up one day'.

Pride is the key to destruction after all.

Especially in Shadow Slave.
