The reason Carson specifically sought out Kaldren Stanford for a recommendation letter was naturally to infiltrate the Valentine Family.
The Hidden God White Jade Stem was with the Aarav Family, and Carson had no connections to the Aarav Family, so it was impossible to obtain the Hidden God White Jade Stem. Lorvian Randall was also an enemy of the Aarav Family, so that was out of the question as well.
The Valentine and Aarav families were very close, practically like one family. Carson then thought about sneaking into the Valentine Family as an alchemist, hoping to find an opportunity to obtain the Hidden God White Jade Stem from the Aarav Family.
