"The pits?"
The Guard explained politely, "On the west side of Market Island, a row of big pits was dug. When the Spiritual Energy tides arrive, many people hide inside them, then use a Barrier from a magical treasure to resist the tides. Although the power of the tides can still affect the inside of the pits, the force will be much weaker."
Carson Flores suddenly understood. "When the Spiritual Energy tides come, does everyone hide in the pits?"
The Guard replied, "The pits are limited. Not everyone can hide in them."
"Can't they just dig more pits?"
Carson blurted this out subconsciously, then saw the strange expression on the Guard's face, and suddenly had a realization. He widened his eyes and said, "You're not allowed to dig randomly?"
The Guard answered, "The island is only this big. If everyone comes and digs however they like, the island would probably be dug away in no time. Besides, if everyone dug their own pits, how would any business be done on this island?"
