Chapter 271: I'm Going to Make a Move

"Are you ready?" Zhang Yang raised his hand. The mountain air was very fresh, and at this moment there was no wind.

"Boss, ready!"

Zhang Yang looked at the medical kit about four meters below him on the slope, stained with blood. If he moved fast enough, going down and climbing back up would take about three to four seconds.

But in three to four seconds, even an ordinary, newly trained sniper like Zhang Yang could easily hit a target at just over a hundred meters, let alone a professional sniper.

"Do you know the enemy's coordinates?" Pan Ningning suddenly asked.

Zhang Yang nodded and showed her his phone.

"Anti-Sniper Acoustic Detection System? How do you have military equipment… No, this detection accuracy is even higher than France's PILAR anti-sniper acoustic system… It can even determine the enemy's weapon model… You…"

Suspicion appeared on Pan Ningning's face. "How come I never knew the military had such a high-precision anti-sniper detection system?"

"I'll explain later…" Zhang Yang checked the time. Tang Qiqi and the others were probably getting anxious. He needed to retrieve the medical kit first.

"Pick up that sniper rifle for me…" Pan Ningning pointed not far away in the trench.

Zhang Yang looked over. Sure enough, an SSG69 sniper rifle with green camouflage lay quietly in the grass.

Without thinking further, Zhang Yang picked up the rifle and placed it beside her.

Pan Ningning glanced at him, hesitated, and said, "Help me turn over."

"You… can still use this rifle?"

"Cut the crap. Hurry!"

Zhang Yang followed instructions, bent down, looked at her, and carefully wrapped one hand around her perky hips, while his other hand slipped around her waist. His fingers brushed a soft, cushiony mound—big, soft…

No bra?

Or… Zhang Yang was stunned.

But he quickly understood. As a sniper, wearing a bra with steel support…

Would make movement inconvenient, and long periods of prone sniping could easily injure her.

"Move faster!" She had clearly sensed his warm hand pressing on her sensitive spot.

Pan Ningning glared at him angrily, but couldn't blame him—she had asked him to help turn her over.

"Give me the phone…"

Zhang Yang handed her the phone, but seeing her other hand couldn't move, he placed it directly under her eyes…

Pan Ningning lowered her head, glanced at it, and began adjusting her shooting angle.

Zhang Yang felt puzzled. With the rock blocking him, she had no angle to attack the enemy. What was she doing? But after comparing the enemy's position on the phone with her adjusted angle, he understood—she was preparing. If the enemy advanced…

They would definitely enter her firing range.

She was indeed a professional. Although Zhang Yang now had plenty of combat experience in his mind, most of it still felt like memory, whereas Pan Ningning operated with natural instinct.

"One… two…"

When he reached "two," Zhang Yang instantly leapt from the trench toward the medical kit. The moment his hand touched it and he began rolling downward—

"Bang!"

A bullet streaked past him like a meteor, striking the spot where the medical kit had just been and sending grass flying.

"Three!" "Bang!"

The moment the word "three" left his mouth, a gunshot nearly identical to the previous one rang out.

Echoes surged in the valley, the two shots crashing through the mountains like waves.

"Boss… hit!"

"Hit?" Hugging the medical kit, Zhang Yang didn't hesitate for even a second and immediately climbed back up.

Just as he reached the rock again—another bang. A bullet slammed into the rock. Had he hesitated even half a second, he would have been blown away.

Lao Yi's anxious voice sounded in the earpiece.

"I'm fine!" Zhang Yang panted.

"Miss Tang said she clearly hit him…"

"I know. But there's more than one of them." Zhang Yang glanced at the phone beside Pan Ningning. "Determine the firing direction and send it to me."

"Boss, it's still the same position, but he can't run. We've locked him in."

Zhang Yang looked at Pan Ningning and whispered, "We hit one, but there should be…"

"An observer…" Pan Ningning lifted her eyes from the scope. "Not only that, they originally had another sniper team."

She paused, frowned, and looked at Zhang Yang. "Who exactly are you? Why would they send such professional snipers after you?"

The question stunned Zhang Yang. He countered, "You don't know who I am?"

"I know you're Zhang Yang. But what do you actually do?"

"Then who sent you to protect me? Didn't they tell you my identity?" Zhang Yang was confused. She knew his name yet not his profession. That made no sense.

Didn't she read news or newspapers?

"I only follow orders. I don't ask what my protection target does. But…" Pan Ningning lowered her head. "I'm curious now. Why would someone that skilled send professional snipers after you? They're definitely well-trained."

"Could they be military too?" Zhang Yang felt a chill. He had forgotten—although Spade Eight was terrifying, Huaxia prohibited firearms. How could civilians have trained snipers?

Pan Ningning nodded, then shook her head. "I'm not sure. They deliberately used simple, reliable rifles like the SVD, but brought full sniper gear, plus a sniper and an observer. If they're not military, they might be mercenaries—likely foreign ones."

"Looks like more than just Spade Eight wants me dead." A thought flashed through Zhang Yang's mind—big families? The Du family? The Cai family?

Without turning her head, Pan Ningning asked, "What are you doing in this mountain area?"

"You really don't know what I do?" Zhang Yang felt speechless. "Ao Tian didn't tell you?"

This made no sense. Shouldn't she know her protection target's identity first?

"I'm not marrying you. Why would I need to know what you do?" she replied irritably.

Zhang Yang felt oddly embarrassed. He was a public figure now. It would've been understandable if she didn't know him as a stranger, but she had been protecting him for quite a while, yet didn't know his occupation.

But thinking about it, maybe that was better. One shouldn't take oneself too seriously.

"We'll talk later. I'll stop your bleeding first. Oh right, you mentioned another sniper team—what about them?" Zhang Yang asked while opening the medical kit skillfully.

Pan Ningning looked at him, then ahead. "The other two were killed by me."

"So… your leg wound?" Zhang Yang finally realized. "They shot your leg?"

No wonder her thigh was already bandaged. He opened the kit—it held many items: bandages, mesh caps, antiseptic sticks, self-adhesive dressing, a roll-up splint, breathable medical belt, CPR mask, hemostatic clamps, broad-spectrum antibiotics, an emergency blanket, etc. A section of alginate bandage was already missing. This confirmed she had treated her leg herself.

Pan Ningning pursed her dry cherry lips and nodded.

Zhang Yang noticed a small canteen attached to the kit, opened it, and brought it to her lips.

She glanced at him, didn't refuse, drank a few sips, then said calmly, "Help me sit up."

"Okay." Zhang Yang held her upper body and lifted her.

Her body twisted slightly, unsure if from pain or from being held in a man's arms for the first time.

"Two groups attacked you. One was Spade Eight—that was expected. But the other group completely surprised me. That's why I'm curious who you are, to have earned such enemies."

"Not enemies exactly. I probably threatened their interests." Zhang Yang took scissors, a triangular bandage, antiseptic, a syringe, and an emergency blanket from the kit. He looked at her and said, "I'll stop your bleeding now."

Seeing his practiced movements, Pan Ningning's face showed surprise again. "You know how to do all this?" She originally thought she'd need to teach him.

"Sort of." Zhang Yang removed his jacket, laid the emergency blanket on the ground, then lifted her and placed her on the edge. He looked at her and unzipped her clothing.

"Swish!"

As the zipper opened, she revealed a tight black thermal shirt. And as he suspected earlier, she wore no bra underneath—only a tight chest binder. Even so, Zhang Yang couldn't help glimpsing the faint outline of her full curves and the two slightly raised points.

Her gunshot wound was just above her right breast, possibly damaging tendons or worse. Zhang Yang glanced at her, took the scissors, and said, "I need to cut your clothing."

Once cut, her entire right breast would be exposed. Zhang Yang felt a slight tension in his chest.

"Mm." But to his surprise, Pan Ningning only lowered her eyelashes. Her face showed no ripple at all.
