Chapter 266: Let's See Who's More Ruthless

"Right, unexpected, isn't it? The Li Ping from back then is the Green Scorpion now, hahahaha!" Shaoying burst into arrogant laughter on the ground. After laughing, he stared at Lao Yi and said, "Poor guy, you probably don't even know who the Green Scorpion is, right?"

"No harm telling you. Her current identity is Spade Eight's Green Group's number two, the Green Scorpion spoken of in the underworld.

"Nonsense." Lao Yi roared, then turned his head, took a dagger from his subordinate, and slowly walked toward the fallen Shaoying. "I'll skin you alive right now."

"Hahaha, come on then, I'm waiting." Shaoying stared at Lao Yi with blood-filled eyes, baring his teeth as he laughed wildly. "Hurry up, give me a quick death."

"Where exactly is Li Ping?"

"Haha, what, still can't forget her?" Shaoying's tone carried obvious smugness. He glanced sideways at Zhang Yang and sneered, "If you want to know, go ask your master behind you, haha."

Zhang Yang frowned. Only now did he understand why Shaoying willingly followed him down the mountain. Judging by Lao Yi's expression, he clearly still held feelings for Li Ping. And if the Green Scorpion truly was Lao Yi's former fiancée Li Ping—even if they no longer had ties—Lao Yi would definitely not be able to fight at full strength.

Worse, even he, Zhang Yang, now that he knew the Green Scorpion was Li Ping—true or not—would subconsciously hold back for Lao Yi's sake.

This Shaoying was truly vicious. If he had known, he should have killed him on the mountain.

Lao Yi sneered coldly after hearing Shaoying's words. "You think I'll believe your bullshit?"

"Haha, believe it or not." Shaoying propped himself up and sat, slowly sweeping his gaze across Zhang Yang and Lao Yi. "You can kill me now, then kill the Green Scorpion, and then go see her true face… ah!"

Before he finished speaking, a slap landed heavily on his face, sending him rolling several times across the ground. When he lifted his head again, the left side of his face was already swollen.

"Tang Qiqi!" After seeing who hit him, Shaoying's eyes instantly turned icy. "You traitor."

The one who had struck him was Tang Qiqi, who had somehow gotten out of the vehicle without anyone noticing.

"Shaoying, how exactly did my father die back then? If you don't explain clearly today, I won't spare you."

"Haha, Tang Qiqi… So you really joined Spade Eight just to avenge that old bastard Tang Duan. I knew I didn't misjudge you. Should've killed you directly back then… mmph!"

Before he finished speaking, Tang Qiqi kicked him to the ground, then stomped his face hard with her military boot. "Speak. Did you, Master Sheng, and You Long collude with Heishui Qiang to ambush my father?"

"Heh. Looks like… you already know…" His eyes shifted, and he twisted his face away with effort.

"Fine, at this point I'm not afraid to tell you. Yes, we were the ones who gave Tang Duan's whereabouts to Heishui Qiang."

"You ungrateful scum! My father treated you well. Why did you betray him?" Tang Qiqi pulled out a small knife from who-knows-where and stabbed it straight into Shaoying's shoulder. "You even teamed up with outsiders to ambush him. Why?"

"Why? Hahaha, go ask your dead old man. We followed him for so many years, risking our lives every day, living on the edge with blood on our knives. And him? Who knows what was in his head—every bit of money we made was either donated to disaster zones or sent to charities. Is that still the underworld? Might as well become a goodwill ambassador."

"And that's not all. He didn't allow robbery, drug trafficking, or even harassing women. One word from him and we'd get lectured. Not just me—everyone in Spade Eight except a few idiots couldn't stand it anymore. So we discussed it, and that old bastard Tang Duan had to die."

"Coincidentally, we heard Heishui Qiang wanted him dead, so we gladly helped him set up an ambush at Lvtian Hotpot City… ah—"

Before he finished, Tang Qiqi drove another knife hard into his other shoulder.

"Beast!"

Shaoying, wracked with pain, sweated profusely, yet still wore a proud grin. He chuckled sinisterly: "Let me tell you another secret. Heishui Qiang wasn't even the real killer of that old bastard…"

Zhang Yang listened from the side, frowning again. As Ao Tian suspected, Tang Duan's death was far from simple.

"Heishui Qiang wanted him dead, yes, but the old bastard was a former special forces soldier. That useless Heishui Qiang and his men nearly got killed by him instead. Luckily, we arranged for someone else…"

He glanced coldly at Lao Yi, the smug grin returning. "That person was Li Ping. That night, to be safe, we had her lie in wait at the Longhua Hotel next door. When Heishui Qiang nearly messed up, she fired a shot straight into the old bastard's chest, shattering his heart."

"Bullshit. Li Ping couldn't have shooting skills that good." Lao Yi immediately retorted.

"Heh, why not? As her boyfriend, after being together for so long, you should've known her talent. A sniper with such ability—putting her beside trash like you was simply wasting a natural prodigy."

Lao Yi gnashed his teeth, fingers cracking loudly. "Tu Long, even if she had such talent, you kidnapped her. Why would she work for you? You think she's a three-year-old child?"

"Hahahaha! Stupid. Isn't it simple? When I had her captured, I originally planned to rape and kill her. My men even gave her a toy gun to mock her, let her escape on purpose, then chase her. But unexpectedly, she used that toy gun and injured several of my men. Only then did we discover her talent."

"So I changed my mind. Pretended to save her, then told her the one who killed her father was Tang Duan. Blinded by revenge for you, she trained hard under my orders. In less than half a year, she became Spade Eight's number one sharpshooter. And indeed—she proved useful at the critical moment."

"Ridiculous. If that's true, then after she killed Tang Duan, why did she remain in Spade Eight?"

"Idiot. Before killing Tang Duan, she had already killed plenty of people for us. How could she go back after that?"

"You animal!" Lao Yi roared, stomping hard on Shaoying's chest.

Shaoying showed no fear. He stared at Lao Yi, then at Tang Qiqi's foot on his face, and even smiled. "So… what now… who'll make the move? Want to discuss it? Oh… right, I almost forgot—your ex-girlfriend killed her father… haha… so you two are enemies too."

Zhang Yang regretted more and more not killing this bastard on the mountain earlier.

He never expected Lao Yi's ex-girlfriend to be the Green Scorpion, nor that Lao Yi still had such feelings for her.

Zhang Yang didn't know much about Lao Yi's past, but he knew Lao Yi cared about his current wife. He also knew that Lao Yi's marriage was mainly his mother's arrangement.

Before working with Chen Tianxiong, Lao Yi actually had a good job. Zhang Yang had always wondered why he gave it up to join Chen Tianxiong.

Now he understood—because only by following Chen Tianxiong could Lao Yi have enough time and access to underground networks to search for clues about Li Ping.

What troubled Zhang Yang now was—if Li Ping really killed Tang Duan…

Regardless of whether she was deceived or manipulated, the fact she killed Tang Duan remained. Someone like Tang Qiqi would never let her go.

If she wouldn't let Li Ping go, Lao Yi would be torn in the middle—his feelings still tied to Li Ping.

Worse, these were problems for later. Right now, the Green Scorpion was almost certainly Li Ping. She might already be heading their way from some hidden place—coming to kill them.

No one knew who would live, who would die. But a shadow crept over Zhang Yang's heart. If he truly had the chance to kill the Green Scorpion… would he be able to do it?

This damned Shaoying had clearly targeted their weak spot—exposing everything to sow distrust among them; and second, sacrificing himself so that Li Ping could kill them and survive. Ao Tian's data stating that the Green Scorpion and Shaoying were lovers was clearly true—and deeply so.

This wasn't something he could bring up with Lao Yi. Doing so would be like pouring salt on an open wound.

"Hahaha, cat got your tongues? Didn't you want to kill me? Come on, who's going to do it?" Shaoying regained a bit of strength and kept provoking without fear of death.

"Want to die so badly? I'll do it!" Zhang Yang stepped forward and shot straight at his crotch.

The sudden gunshot startled both Lao Yi and Tang Qiqi. When they saw it was Zhang Yang, they subconsciously stepped back as Shaoying screamed, clutching his groin.

Zhang Yang looked at the two of them, then stepped on Shaoying's face, leaned down, and whispered in his ear, "I know exactly what you're thinking. But too bad—it's useless."

After speaking, he tilted the gun and shot out Shaoying's mouth. Then lowered the barrel and shot each of his thighs.

Shaoying could no longer move or speak. He could only glare at Zhang Yang with poisonous hatred.

Zhang Yang smiled, crouching down, seemingly already accustomed to such gore. "I won't kill you. Do you know why…? You seem to really want to know, right? What a pity. You were quite the influential figure. Fine, I'll tell you."

Zhang Yang crushed Shaoying's mangled face to the side with his boot and whispered into his ear.

As soon as Zhang Yang finished, Shaoying's eyes widened instantly, filled with hatred and extreme pain, as if he wanted to devour Zhang Yang alive.
