"Seriously!!?"
Kenji looked up at the sky in frustration while listening to what he was told on the phone.
"You do understand that I just came back, right?" Kenji clearly expressed his annoyance as he asked, "Then why are you making me go on a mission, Ijichi?"
"Sorry to put this on you, Kenji-san, but it is an emergency," the voice on the phone said.
"Right now, you are the only one capable of handling this," Ijichi said with an urgent voice. "A cursed womb has appeared at the detention center, and it seems to have made the center into its innate domain. Three of the first-year students are trapped inside, including Fushiguro Megumi.
"And!! Why can't Satoru-nii handle it?" Kenji states as a matter of fact.
If it is Gojo Satoru, he should be able to handle it pretty quickly.
"Unfortunately, Gojo-san is currently away and is not able to help in this matter."
"Damn it! I will get there as fast as I can." He ends the call and puts his phone away.
Kenji lets out a deep sigh as he looks around. He was standing in front of the train station with his bags by his side as crowds of people went past.
More often than not, most people passing by couldn't help but turn and glance at Kenji. It couldn't be helped, as Kenji is quite a looker.
Standing at 175cm with a lean, muscular build, dark hair, and dark blue eyes, not to mention his very symmetrical facial structure, Gojo Kenji was the dream man for several girls.
Kenji, oblivious to this, picks up his bag as he heads for a secluded area.
Usually, an Assistant Manager would pick him up, but that was too slow for Kenji. He has to reach the center quickly to prevent something bad from happening to Megumi.
Others might not be aware of this, but Kenji is a reincarnator.
After he died in his original world, Kenji found himself as a baby in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen.
As for how or why he is here?
Kenji had no idea; all he could do was chalk it up to a random reincarnation. He was able to accept the changes that happened to him fairly quickly because of one main factor.
That is, Kenji was a realist.
In the few days after he was reincarnated, Kenji had hope that it was a dream or a hallucination; in fact, he had once thought that the Government was doing a secret experiment and had put him inside a simulation.
But after waking up several times and still finding himself in this world, only then did he accept it. It was less of an acceptance and more of giving up due to the inability to change his situation.
It didn't matter if it was a dream or a simulation; it doesn't change the fact that there's nothing he can do to alter this reality he lives in.
Another reason was that he is a member of the main Branch of the Gojo clan and the cousin of Gojo Satoru, the strongest Jujutsu Sorcerer.
One might say, 'Lucky You'; at least it wasn't the Zennei Clan. They might suggest there is a chance of inheriting a power curse technique like Limitless or gaining a powerful Curse Energy like Yuta.
Certainly, these benefits also apply to Kenji. From a young age, Kenji possessed such tremendous Curse Energy that he was classified as a Special grade, which drew the attention of the clan's leader at the time.
At Kenji's first birthday, the leader of the Gojo clan personally came to visit. Along with him was Satoru Gojo, the man who was destined to be the strongest.
This was quite normal. As the next Head of the Clan, he was also curious to see what all the fuss was about.
Satoru glanced at baby Kenji and spoke.
"HE IS STRONG!!"
With that single statement from Satoru, it was like they had received a revelation from 'Kami.' To be considered strong by Satoru Gojo's standards means that he is at the top of the jujutsu world.
Unfortunately, this wasn't all good news for Kenji. Since the clan couldn't control Satoru to follow their wishes, they shifted their focus to Kenji.
This meant that growing up was difficult for someone like Kenji, who had already formed his personality from memories of his past life.
At age 5, Kenji was forced to undergo intense training in martial arts, weapon handling, and curse energy control. Year after year, he trained with different mentors, all aiming to meet the expectations set by Satoru's statement.
While he understood why they were pushing, that didn't mean he had to like it. The only thing keeping him motivated was the future knowledge he possessed and the dangers that lay ahead.
Even then, he felt it was too much. At age 12, Kenji begins to rebel. By this time, Satoru's words were coming true, as Kenji was a prodigy with the strength of a 1st Grade Sorcerer.
Because of that, Kenji's ego was growing. He started ignoring all orders from the clan, refused to train, left the clan for days at a time, and wouldn't come home.
All of this frustrated everyone in the clan except for one person, Satoru Gojo. He found Kenji's antics funny and wasn't really worried.
However, as the current clan leader, he felt compelled to intervene and halt Kenji.
One day, Kenji had escaped from the Gojo residence for some 'Fresh Air' when Satoru stopped him before he could get far.
Maybe it was because Kenji is a reincarnator and didn't have powers in his previous life, but now that he's in this world and has power he could only imagine, he lets it go to his head.
Because, for some reason, he thought it was a good idea to 'square up' with Satoru Gojo.
Anybody could have guessed how the fight went. After suffering a huge loss, Kenji's growing ego deflated.
Just when he thought everything was about to return to normal, Satoru showed up and found him.
"You're heading to China to become a monk."
Eh!!? What do you mean?
Satoru suddenly informed Kenji that he would be going to China for training.
"Why!?" Kenji protested, "I am doing just fine here."
He wasn't too happy about this sudden change. He felt that he was already going through more than enough training. He also thought that he was strong enough.
Unfortunately, the choice wasn't in his hands.
Now, three years later, he has returned, only to be called for a mission. He hasn't even gone home yet.
Why was Kenji in a rush to reach the Juvenile Detention Center? As a reincarnator, he should know that the first-year students were not in any danger.
Although Itadori would be considered dead for a while, everyone would be okay in the end. Unfortunately, that future cannot be guaranteed.
Why!!?
Because the world of Jujutsu Kaisen is unique, it relies on balance. Like when Satoru Gojo was born, the world's balance shifted.
Similarly, Kenji, an anomaly not meant to exist in this world, caused the course of future events to shift to create a counterbalance.
While it may seem like nothing much has changed story-wise, like the 'Night Parade of a Hundred Demons', which had occurred during the previous year, similar to the original.
Other subtle changes can be seen, like in the original, 99% of the Jujutsu Sorcerers were from Japan. But now, it is 80%.
Also, while it may not be considered too important, Misato Kuroi, the caretaker of Riko Amanai, is still alive. During the assassination of Amanai, the bullet that was meant to kill her didn't hit any of her vitals, keeping her alive till she got help.
Now she is Kenji's caretaker.
Another one is Tsumiki Fushigoro, who fell into a coma several months earlier than she was supposed to.
Several similar cases have been occurring; while they have not changed the way the original plot went, one can never be sure when they will happen.
Now that an original plot event was happening just as he had returned, Kenji felt very uneasy. Reaching a hidden spot, Kenji hid his bags so he could get them later.
Looking around, making sure that no one was able to see him. He squats down and suddenly leaps into the air.
He soars into the sky, reaching a height of 10m. He doesn't slow down as he is suddenly propelled into the sky, reaching speeds of 200km/h.
