Technically, the group hadn't lost much time, but for some reason it suddenly felt like they were far behind schedule. As they ran through the forest, Nero and Arin did their best to cover them. Fortunately they didn't run into any issues, so the duo did not need to act.
"Regroup here," commanded Jess as she stopped in a clearing beside a large tree, allowing them to have cover while also some room to stand and rest if they needed.
The battle had been quick and effective, with a net positive result. Since they were used to intense training, they weren't exhausted by the speed and intensity of the battle either. Instead, it was the wariness of looking out for more attacks while keeping the bags they carried safe which caused the greatest amount of exhaustion.
The group stopped altogether, though kept looking all around them to see if there was anyone following them.
