The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel was a symbol of Mumbai's history, but under the Vow's control, it had become a dark fortress.
Rhea pulled up the colonial blueprints of the building. "The hotel was built over an old British military outpost. There's a network of drainage tunnels and storage vaults that sit below sea level. Devendra has converted those vaults into the Core's primary control station."
"What about the security?" Rohan asked.
"The vault system is shielded," Rhea said. "No digital signal goes in or out. That's why Desai's tracker stopped when he reached the basement. To get inside, you'll have to manually bypass the physical junction box in the boiler room."
"I'll go with Vikram," Rohan said, checking his pistol's energy cell.
"Your leg, Rohan—" Vikram started.
"I'm going, Vikram," Rohan interrupted, his eyes hard. "My father died because of these monsters. I'm not sitting in a sewer while you fight."
Vikram saw the determination in his friend's eyes and knew he couldn't stop him.
"Okay," Vikram said. "Rahul, you and Rhea stay at the tunnel entrance. Keep the radio open. If we don't return in two hours, flee the city."
