The first thing to arrive was not the hounds, but the wolverines.
Thirty kilos of fangs and anger, shaped roughly like Cara, but with light-brown fur that made them look more like an angry tiny bear.
The larger golems had a hard time dealing with them, as they were so close to the ground, attacking the lower legs and trying to rush past to get to the inner ranks of the defenders.
And like Cara, it was a nightmare to stop them without putting up an actual barrier.
Nobody wanted to do that, as it would stop them from effectively attacking outward, and make their sight lines even more limited than they already were. So, they were going to have to get into melee combat, even with so many Golems around.
Cara, for one, was overjoyed.
Not only were they her size, but they were sneaky sorts. Sure, they were driven insane by the dungeon, but they were still intelligent enough to avoid the golems and go for the targets that looked much easier to shred.
