The sky was just beginning to lighten. Remembering she'd promised to get up early to make shrimp wontons—Anan and Yu Yu's favorite—Qin Yuji had even specially set an alarm before going to bed the night before.
The alarm had just gone off once when Qin Yuji stretched an arm out from under the covers, only to be scooped up—quilt and all—by Chi Jingxuan and pulled into his arms.
The alarm was also silenced under his long arm with a single smack.

Qin Yuji mumbled softly as she reached out to tug at the arm Chi Jingxuan had wrapped around her.
He rubbed his chin against the hollow of her neck; when she shrank her neck from the tickle, Chi Jingxuan flipped her over and lowered his head to kiss her.
After giving birth to Mingming in October, even after Qin Yuji finished her postpartum confinement, Chi Jingxuan had been holding himself back, not touching her, wanting her to rest a while longer.
