"Valentine Teller, call me Mark." He whispered hoarsely in her ear.

Valentine turned her face away, full of resistance.

His arm closed around her, pulling her tightly to his chest.
"I won't say it." Why should she listen to him? She refused.
"I like it when you call me like this. You're the only one who does; if you don't, I'll have to punish you. Maybe you prefer my punishment."
His voice was low, almost pleading, softening Valentine's heart, weakening her resistance.
