The next morning the maid returned with a set of clothes for Aylin to wear. She was given a light blue dress layered with white organza and had puffed sleeves. The maid braided Aylin's dark blonde hair. She saw herself in the mirror. Her brown eyes glistening in the morning light. She looked like a proper lady.
Aylin thanked the maid, as the maid left room. Looking out the window Aylin could see the expansive rolling fields of Westwood. Not knowing what to do, she waited inside the room. Wandering around the estate on her own would have made Aylin feel uncomfortable. Patiently, she waited for Cal to find her. It was only a few minutes before she heard a knock on the door. Aylin swiftly walked over to find Cal on the other side of the door.
"Good morning, did you sleep well?" asked Cal.
"Yes, I did. It was the most refreshing sleep I had in a while." Replied Aylin.
"Good to hear. I brought breakfast do you mind if I come in?" asked Cal.
"Not at all, come on in." replied Aylin.
Cal walked into the room followed by a footman with a cart carrying the breakfast. It was placed on the desk. The chair in the corner was brought over to the desk by Cal. Both of them sat down and enjoyed the food provided.
"I have arranged for us to meet with my father this afternoon. Before that would you accompany me for the day." said Cal.
Aylin gave her approval. After they had finished their breakfast. Cal brought Aylin to a shed. Inside there was what looked like a buggy. Cal grabbed a rod and attached it to the buggy and turned it a few times before a rumbling cackler roared. The sound startled Aylin and she took a step backwards.
"What is this?" asked Aylin.
"It's a motor buggy." Cal walked over to Aylin and took her hand and helped her into the motor buggy. He walked around to the other side and took his seat behind the wheel. The motor buggy moved forward out of the shed.
"How is this moving? It couldn't be magic." Said Aylin
"It's not magic. This large part in the front is called a motor. It takes in fuel called gas to create energy to make the wheels spin." Explained Cal.
"That doesn't make sense." responded Aylin
"It doesn't have to. What matters is I can show you around town with this." said Cal.
The motor buggy carried them down the street into main part of town. Riverwood was larger than the little village where Aylin was from. There were many shops and restaurants to choose from. As they were driving through the streets, people kept looking at the sight of the motor buggy. The machine was not common and mainly owned by people with wealth. The people were also looking at the girl who was with the Marquis of Westwood's eldest son. They had never seen this girl before and thought who this person might be.
"How are you enjoying the drive?" Asked Cal.
"It's an exciting experience. Though I do feel a little out place, like I don't belong." Replied Aylin.
"Do you mean the people staring. Don't pay any attention to them. They have nothing better else to do with their time besides gossiping and making up rumors." Said Cal.
"Well, I suppose that's not bad. It shows everyone is doing well and does not have to worry." Said Aylin.
"I never thought of it that way. The people here are well off." Said Cal.
They drove past the city center where a statue of the first Marquis of Westwood stood. Reminding the people of how he defended this land from invading neighbors eventually earning his title. Next, they passed the post office and the library. The architecture was simple but refined. Combining stone and wood to construct durable buildings that match the entire town. After the tour of the town, they returned to the estate.
As they were leaving the shed where the motor buggy was parked a girl was calling out to Cal. She looked to be 16 with long brunette hair. Dressed in a white blouse with a brown skirt and vest. Despite her simple attire, she gleamed with natural beauty. When the girl had finally reached them, she turned her attention to Cal.
"Cal your back. It has been so long since I saw you. How was your trip," said the girl.
"A lot happened, and I still need to report to my dad about it. While I was away, I made a new friend. This is Aylin. She is a physician. She helped me out while I was away." Said Cal.
"It is nice to meet you, Aylin. I'm Bella Roberts. I have been friends with Cal since we were children." Said Bella.
"It's nice to meet you as well Bella." Responded Aylin.
"Bella, do you mind if we meet some other time we need to meet with my father here soon." Said Cal.
"Go ahead I shouldn't keep your father waiting." Said Bella
They parted from each other, and the cheerful Bella left in the opposite direction. Aylin and Cal walked to the manor where they would soon meet with the Marquis of Westwood.
