The journey was silent until the car stopped at Maimai's doorstep. He turned on the car's interior light and saw a line of tears on her face.
Sheng Sheng was shocked by the tears on her face, his heart sank suddenly, and he asked urgently, "Maimai, why are you crying?"
Maimai had been lost in thought the whole way, unaware that she was shedding tears.
Upon hearing his voice, she instinctively pushed open the car door and fled in panic.
Her steps were hurried, afraid he would detect her dependence on him.
Sheng Sheng didn't have time to grab the keys and followed her in pursuit.
He chased into the house, then up the stairs. Just before she could shut the door, he wedged a foot in, successfully stopping her from closing it. The next moment, he slipped inside, pressing her against the door, gazing at her evasive face, gripping her chin aggressively but his tone was as gentle as silent drizzle.
"What's wrong, Maimai, hmm, tell me?"
