In the middle of the night, she turned restlessly, with a growing sense of unease.
Sheng Sheng was actually awake too. Maimai kept tossing and turning, and he was someone who could be awakened by the slightest sound.
He wasn't drunk at all; he just wanted to pretend to be drunk to take advantage of her. But when he actually held her and lay down, he didn't feel any inappropriate urges, instead found that just holding her while she lay quietly in his arms was a kind of enjoyment.
In the dark, Sheng Sheng's lips curled into a slight smile as he whispered to himself like in a dream:"Maimai..."
"Hmm?" Maimai responded immediately.
Sheng Sheng dared not reply to her words, so he continued his dream-talk: "Maimai..."
Calling her name over and over again.
Maimai responded a couple of times, realizing Sheng Sheng hadn't really woken up. She stopped responding, snuggling deeper into his arms, mumbling: "If you can't handle your liquor, don't drink. You reek of alcohol, smells awful."
