Chapter 455 - Chapter 455: Sequence 5 – The Cloud Shaper

[Third Person Pov]

"Lucian, are you sure this is going to work? You haven't exactly experimented with something like this before," Annabeth said, her voice laced with genuine concern as she gazed at him. They stood together at the edge of a vast, empty meadow, where the tall grass swayed gently under the caress of a light breeze, the blades shifting side to side in a rhythmic, almost hypnotic dance.

Ahead of them, Thalia stood alone in the center of the clearing, waiting with visible patience. Her hands were tucked deep inside the pockets of her leather jacket, her posture relaxed yet alert.

"It'll be fine, trust me," Lucian replied casually, popping a piece of gum into his mouth and chewing it with easy confidence. His glasses sat naturally on the bridge of his nose, framing his sharp, knowing eyes. "This is one of the first official, proper high spells I ever crafted. I've poured everything into perfecting it."

Annabeth shook her head, appearing thoroughly exasperated as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Why am I the only one that's genuinely worried about how this could backfire? *They* could be watching, you know. Which would make all the effort we've gone through to hide this completely pointless."

"Babe, chill," Lucian said nonchalantly, flashing her a reassuring smirk. He tapped the side of his head for a moment, and in that instant, a psychic link bloomed between them—courtesy of Annabeth's own intricate abilities—allowing their thoughts to brush against one another in a private, intimate connection. "Besides, it's not like we have much of an option here. This is all part of Thalia's ritual. She needs this to advance to the next stage of her power."

"Trust me, I understand that completely," Annabeth replied sincerely, her tone softening with worry. "I'm just warning you to be careful. I don't want you acting recklessly and getting hurt in the process."

"Says the girl who made the heavens themselves her enemy—with a smile on her face, no less," Lucian shot back, staring at her with a perfectly deadpan expression.

Annabeth blinked for a moment, caught off guard, before she simply shrugged with a small, self-aware laugh. "Honestly, fair point. I really have no room to talk on that front."

"If you guys are done eye-fucking each other over there, I would like to begin!" Thalia shouted from her position in the meadow, her patience finally wearing thin as she shifted her weight impatiently.

"Yeah, yeah, don't get your panties in a twist," Lucian called back, still chewing his gum with that same laid-back demeanor as he stepped forward into the open space.

He blew a large, shimmering bubble with the gum, letting it expand dramatically. In that same fluid motion, he joined his hands together, fingers weaving into an intricate gesture. A faint red mist began to materialize at his feet, swirling softly and languidly around his ankles like living smoke. As the bubble popped with a sharp snap, the mist erupted outward in a sudden rush, expanding rapidly to envelop the entire meadow. With a surge of focused will, Lucian activated his [Domain] spell.

In an instant, the world around them transformed. They were encapsulated within an empty, endless void—a pocket dimension of sorts—where crimson mist rolled endlessly along an invisible floor, casting eerie, shifting shadows that danced across their forms. The meadow, the sky, and the distant horizon had all vanished, replaced by this crimson-tinged sanctuary.

Annabeth studied the altered space carefully for several long moments, her sharp eyes taking in every detail. "This is like that spell Nebula used against Agares," she pointed out casually, a note of recognition in her voice.

Lucian wiped his mouth with his tongue, nodding in agreement. "Yup. The little girl is clearly talented—I couldn't help but want to refine it and make it entirely my own. Took the core concept and elevated it to something more stable, more controllable."

Nearby, Nebula began swaying side to side with a cute, affectionate giggle, her eyes sparkling with delight. She looked toward the others with a smug little grin and puffed out her chest proudly. "Hehehe, it seems that I'm the real favorite child after all!"

Lucian lowered his glasses slightly, peering over the rims at Thalia with a playful grin spreading across his face. "Well, darling, the floor is yours~"

"Thanks," Thalia said dryly, rolling her eyes. But as she did, her irises transformed into twin blazing orbs of crackling electricity, glowing with raw power. She began waving her hands in fluid, commanding arcs, and the wind around them immediately responded. It picked up intensity with startling speed, whipping into a fierce gale that tugged at their clothes and hair.

Their hair and clothing were pushed back violently by the building storm Thalia generated, the air growing thick with electric tension. Annabeth had to raise her hands protectively in front of her face, squinting against the force, while her own summoned spirits instinctively sank deeper into the surrounding shadows for shelter. The wind roared ferociously around the group now, making it nearly impossible to hear anything over the howling tumult.

"Okay! Now I understand why you brought the sunglasses!" Annabeth shouted, her eyes squeezed tightly shut against the biting gusts.

Lucian only grinned wider, planting his feet firmly as he began to increase his personal density through another layer of his power. He became an unmovable, mountain-like force amid the chaos, utterly steadfast against the tempest Thalia was unleashing. Tilting his head back, he watched as formations of dark clouds started to coalesce high above them within the domain. A massive, swirling maelstrom took shape in the artificial sky, churning with ominous energy.

The clouds deepened in color, turning almost black as they generated fierce bursts of electricity. Thunder drummed heavily overhead, the booms so powerful they threatened to rupture eardrums. Jagged lightning began shooting down from the maelstrom without warning, striking the misty ground in chaotic, merciless patterns—brilliant flashes that illuminated the crimson void in stark, momentary brilliance.

Annabeth reacted swiftly, waving her hands in precise, elaborate patterns to summon a powerful protective ward around herself. The barrier shimmered into existence, intricate runes glowing along its edges as it shielded her from the full brunt of Thalia's overwhelming elemental fury.

Having guided the formation of the storm with masterful precision, Thalia deliberately eased her control and simply watched as it spiraled wildly out of hand. The tempest grew in ferocity with every passing second, becoming more untamed and uncontrollable, its raw power swelling into something magnificent and terrifying. Thalia gazed upward with a proud, ear-to-ear smile, her expression one of pure exhilaration at the sheer carnage and beauty she had unleashed with her abilities.

Once the storm had fully slipped beyond her direct command, Thalia levitated gracefully off the ground, her body rising effortlessly into the churning skies. With a burst of acceleration, she shot forward at supersonic speeds, weaving daringly through the crackling bolts of lightning that lit up the crimson domain like a deadly fireworks display. She didn't slow down for even a fraction of a second, showing no hesitation as she plunged straight into the heart of the raging maelstrom.

Electricity charged wildly all around her inside the dense clouds, causing her hair to stand completely on end in a wild halo of static energy. Standing at the very center of the wild storm, Thalia withdrew a foamy potion vial from her jacket. Without a moment's pause or second thought, she uncorked it and drank the contents in one swift gulp.

She dropped the empty bottle as the potion immediately began to take effect. A deep grunt escaped her lips while she concentrated intensely, allowing the mystical liquid to course through her veins. The bottle shattered into glittering fragments midair as a powerful lightning bolt struck it dead-on.

Bathing in the raw essences of the storm, Thalia began her advancement to the next sequence of her power. She transformed from a Cyclone Rider into a true Cloud Shaper, her body and spirit evolving in a surge of elemental transcendence.

"Ahhhhh!!" Thalia roared, her voice echoing powerfully through the domain as the lightning danced chaotically around her during the final stages of her transformation. Bursts of wild energy shot everywhere, feeding the storm and causing it to grow even more frenzied and unpredictable.

She instantly started to fall out of the storm formation, her body ragdolling through the air for a brief, disorienting moment before her eyes snapped open with renewed clarity. She quickly stabilized herself, halting her descent as arcs of lightning continued to flow around her like luminous rain.

In a brilliant flash of lightning, she disappeared and reappeared directly in front of Lucian. She immediately leaned heavily against him, holding her forehead as a throbbing headache began to form. "Lucian, please do me a favor and do something about that," Thalia sighed, her eyes closed tightly as she massaged her temple.

"You got it, babe~" Lucian said calmly, the gum still shifting lazily around in his mouth. "This should be the perfect time to try out some of my new spells."

Lucian formed the okay symbol with his fingers and brought it up over one eye, performing the precise gesture required to activate one of his newest creations. Due to the complexity and sheer power of the spell, the ritual demanded more than just a simple hand sign—it required a clear verbal activation signal as well.

"Bloom," Lucian muttered.

In the middle of the raging storm, a single orb of pure darkness manifested. The space around the orb warped and distorted as it generated an immense, irresistible suction. The clouds, lightning, and gale-force winds were all violently drawn into the artificial black hole that had bloomed in the heart of the skies. Everything was pulled inward and devoured without remorse, rapidly clearing the blackened sky until nothing remained but calm crimson mist.

Lucian's spell didn't generate a true astrophysical black hole, but something far more elegant and controlled. Thanks to his deepening mastery over the concepts of density, space, compression, and darkness, he could compress his darkness energy to such an extreme degree that it produced effects eerily similar to a black hole—capable of absorbing far more than mere light.

As the space was instantly cleared and returned to serene stillness, Lucian looked down toward Thalia, who was still leaning against him. "How are you feeling?"

"Powerful," Thalia grinned widely as she flexed her muscles, testing her newly enhanced strength with evident satisfaction.
