3 billion dollar movie incoming.

u/disastrousappellation2508 replying (1.8k upvotes):

More like it nears Superman's numbers, or maybe under. Let's be realistic.

u/HorrificBanjo replying (2.3k upvotes):

My guy, you have no idea how much hype this movie has. Even my 70-year-old dad asked me about it after he saw the trailer as an ad on YouTube. And my dad doesn't even know what the DCU is.

u/expertintersection6 replying (1.4k upvotes):

I think $2–2.1 billion at maximum. Superman was lightning in a bottle.

u/awful_saucer (3.1k upvotes)

Malefic looks TERRIFYING. Also, do Batman and Superman already know each other's identities?

u/FerociouslyLeft replying (1.9k upvotes):

It seems that way.

u/bubbly_seating (987 upvotes)

It's too MCU for me. I don't think they need to joke around that much. The tone is all over the place.

u/pristineinsanity_7 replying (2.1k upvotes):

What, you want them to be all serious and cold? Do you think every superhero is Batman? Not everyone needs to brood in the shadows. If you want grim and gritty 24/7, go watch a Zack Snyder movie or something. These characters are allowed to have fun.

u/bubbly_seating replying (543 upvotes):

It's my own fucking opinion. Jesus Christ, you people can't handle any criticism. Not everything needs to be a damn comedy show.

u/pristineinsanity_7 replying (1.2k upvotes):

Nobody said it's a comedy show. There's a difference between levity and being a sitcom.

u/bubbly_seating replying:

Whatever. You'll see when it comes out.

u/worsteagerness_80 (2.4k upvotes)

The scene where they're all fighting together was only like one second. Wow, this is going to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

u/VulgarPessimism (1.8k upvotes)

That shot of Wonder Woman tanking that explosion with the civilians behind her? Dude, I always kind of forget how strong she is. She can take on Supes if she has to.

u/PhysicalRelaxation (1.6k upvotes)

Flash and Green Lantern together are going to be comedy gold. I can already tell.

u/rapidly_broken_plateau (876 upvotes)

The CGI looks insane. How does DC keep raising the bar with every movie?

u/DeficientPublicist (498 upvotes)

Aquaman stopping the ship with his bare hands was raw as hell.

u/old-fashionedannuity58 (467 upvotes)

This is going to make Avengers look like a warm-up act.

u/CheekyRapport (421 upvotes)

Flash is such a dork, man, and I love him.

u/ChemicalTuning (398 upvotes)

December can't come fast enough. I'm watching this at least three times opening weekend.

u/LovableChimpanzee (376 upvotes)

Dude, did you guys see what I saw? Like, Batman jumping from space? What the hell.

The music in this trailer is epic. Hans Zimmer is a god.

DC Studios Releases Official Synopses for 2018 Slate: Man of Tomorrow, Wonder Woman 2, and Suicide Squad

DC Studios has officially unveiled plot synopses for its highly anticipated 2018 film lineup, giving fans their first concrete details about what to expect from Man of Tomorrow, Wonder Woman 2, and Suicide Squad.

The three films represent the second chapter of the DC Cinematic Universe, following the release of Justice League this December.

Man of Tomorrow

When a mysterious alien entity with ties to Krypton's past threatens Earth, Superman is forced into an unlikely partnership with Lex Luthor to stop it. As they race to save the world, Superman discovers a truth that changes everything he believed about being the Last Son of Krypton.

Henry Cavill returns as Superman, with the film directed by Brad Bird and written by Daniel Adler and Scott Snyder. Corey Stoll and Rachel Brosnahan are returning to reprise their roles, with Chukwudi Iwuji and Milly Alcock joining as new additions to the cast.

Wonder Woman 2

Diana finds herself at the center of an ancient prophecy as she is targeted by the immortal sorceress Circe. To protect her mission of peace and those she loves, Diana must face an enemy willing to sacrifice everything and everyone to rewrite destiny.

The sequel brings Diana face-to-face with one of her most formidable comic book adversaries. The synopsis emphasizes themes of destiny and sacrifice, suggesting a darker, more personal story than the first film.

Alexandra Daddario reprises her role as Wonder Woman, with Eva Green confirmed as Circe and Sofia Boutella as Barbara Minerva. The film is directed by Bryce Dallas Howard.

Suicide Squad

Amanda Waller deploys a team of dangerous criminals including sharpshooter Bloodsport, the chaotic Harley Quinn, and the ruthless Peacemaker on a suicide mission to retrieve a powerful artifact before it falls into the wrong hands. With bombs in their necks, no guarantee of survival, and Gotham spiraling into madness around them, the squad must confront both a deadly enemy and the demons of their own past.

The ensemble cast includes Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, John Cena as Peacemaker, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Heath Ledger returning as the Joker. The film is directed by David Leitch.

What This Means for the DCU

All three films are set to release in 2018, with Man of Tomorrow arriving first, followed by Wonder Woman 2, and Suicide Squad closing out the year. Industry analysts predict that all three films have strong potential to cross the $1 billion mark at the box office, continuing the DCU's unprecedented streak of commercial success.

Fans can expect more details including trailers and casting announcements at DC Studios' dedicated fan event later this year.

@DCU_News

Holy shit, they have Mongul as the main baddie in World's Finest. I did not expect that.

Replies:

@Froem23

Daniel said in the interview he gave that they are really upping the stakes for the second chapter of the DCU. I kind of expected something like maybe Batman and Superman taking on Lex together for World's Finest, but not THIS.

@Krypatch

Get ready for Bats and Supes to take on Warworld. This is going to be INSANE.

@Gories678

So according to the synopsis for Suicide Squad released today, something is up in Gotham and Waller sends the squad there. And I doubt Waller has the balls to do something like that if Batman is there. So is the reason Batman is absent and shit is going down in Gotham because he is on Warworld with Supes???

@MC018

I'm very excited for this. Also, like, isn't this movie going up against Infinity War?

@BoxOfficePro replying:

Yeah, May 2019. World's Finest vs. Infinity War. The ultimate showdown.

@Ojuren34

THEORY: Mongul kidnaps both Batman and Superman and takes them to Warworld. They have to fight their way out together. Meanwhile, Gotham is falling apart without Batman, which is why Waller sends the Suicide Squad in. It all connects.

@Abelen replying (876 likes):

That would explain the Suicide Squad synopsis mentioning "Gotham spiraling into madness." Without Batman there, the villains would absolutely take over. What the fuck are Nightwing and Jason up to though?

@Seretrn56

If they're doing Warworld, we might get to see Superman at his most brutal.

@JsticeLes (987 likes)

So we have:

Man of Tomorrow (Brainiac)

Wonder Woman 2 (Circe and Cheetah)

Suicide Squad (Joker and also a mystery villain from the leak two days ago)

World's Finest (Mongul / Warworld)

DC is NOT holding back in Phase 2.

Still waiting for what's happening in Aquaman 2.

@Earworpe

Warworld is going to look INCREDIBLE. If Green Lanterns' CGI is anything to go by, this is going to be visually insane.

@Tra019 (398 likes)

May 2019 is going to be the most stacked month in cinema history. Infinity War AND World's Finest. We are blessed.

"I'm glad you liked it," I said on the phone to Kathleen Kennedy.

"It's a very remarkable treatment," she said. "We want to work on making it a complete script as soon as possible."

"Well, as soon as we can come to an agreement on things," I replied.

"Of course," Kathleen said smoothly.

I had sent in a treatment for Rogue One to Lucasfilm yesterday, and it looked like they were very interested.

Whether their interest came from liking the treatment, or from Bob Iger's orders to have me involved, or both, I didn't know. I'd always gotten the impression over the last few weeks, during the contact between my team and Lucasfilm, that some people there did not want me involved at all.

Honestly, I didn't want to be involved either until the specific demands I had were met.

Most of them were safeguards to make sure they didn't roll over me after I agreed to work for them. I didn't want to end up making the movie and then, halfway through, be asked to change everything.

I was also thinking of directing the movie myself. Disney wanted the movie to be part of their 2021 slate, the same year they planned to end their sequel trilogy. They had wanted 2020, but another Star Wars movie, which I was not told about, took that spot.

If 2021 was agreed on, then yeah, I was ready to direct it. Get most of the credit. Because I knew the movie would do well with my changes. Even better than the original.

It might be the best Star Wars movie of that year if the sequel trilogy went the same way it did in my old world.

Kathleen spoke again. "I'd like to meet face-to-face. Maybe next week? We can talk more about what you're expecting."

"I'll get back to you later," I said.

"Looking forward to it."

We ended the call.

I sighed and leaned back in my chair.

In front of me was my laptop, on which sat the three-quarters-completed manuscript of Percy Jackson: The Lost Hero.

The recent blowup of the Percy Jackson animated series, now in its third season on Netflix, had only increased the pressure to release the book. The series had created new fans who had bought the books, and now the fandom was larger than ever.

I had promised myself I would finish it and release it by Christmas. It had to be done. I couldn't have this hanging over my head when I was directing The Usual Suspects.

I looked at the time.

"Oh, fuck," I thought as I checked a text from Graves saying it was time to head out to Midas.

==========

With all the main cast finalized, especially the five suspects, today I was getting them in the same room for the first time.

Arriving at Midas, Graves met me in the lobby along with Julie.

"Robert arrived about five minutes ago," Julie said. "The others are here too."

I nodded and walked into the room where Robert was waiting. He had his team of people around him: assistants, publicists, the usual entourage all celebrities had.

"You're late, my friend," Robert said as we shook hands.

"Sorry about that. I had a meeting with Kathleen Kennedy."

Robert raised an eyebrow. "Kathleen? What, are you doing a Star Wars next?"

I winked at him.

"Really?" Robert said, genuinely surprised.

I grinned. "What can I say? I'm a hot commodity."

Robert laughed.

I went and greeted the others, whom I had met before during the casting process and in other projects.

Paul Dano, who was playing Verbal Kint, someone I was familiar with from working with him during Batman Pt. 3. Tom Hardy, whom I knew from The Revenant, was playing Michael McManus. LaKeith Stanfield and Michael Peña, both of whom I had met during casting, were playing Todd Hockney and Fred Fenster.

The entire thing lasted hours. We did screen tests, chemistry tests, costume fittings, and discussed the characters.

And of course, we took the photo of the lineup, the one I planned to use in the press release for the movie's official announcement.

I looked at them as they all stood in the formation from the lineup scene I remembered so well.

Tom Hardy wore a red patterned shirt with a loose, open red jacket over it. He stood slightly relaxed, arms hanging loosely at his sides, giving off a casual, almost unimpressed attitude.

LaKeith Stanfield wore a black turtleneck sweater with a dark jacket. He stood upright with his hands behind his back, shoulders slightly forward, looking reserved and serious.

Michael Peña wore a dark suit jacket with a bright red shirt underneath. He stood very straight and confident, arms resting calmly by his sides.

Paul Dano wore a blue button-up shirt with a dark vest over it. He stood with his hands clasped together in front of him, shoulders slightly hunched, giving a quiet, cautious impression.

And finally, Robert Downey Jr. stood in the center. He wore a light blue dress shirt with a patterned yellow tie. He was holding a light-colored suit jacket draped over one arm and wearing cream-colored pants. He stood in a relaxed but slightly awkward pose, one hip tilted, holding the jacket across his body.

"Alright, that's good," I said as the photographers began snapping away.

I looked through the shots as they came in on the monitor.

Then I saw it.

The perfect one.

Oh yeah… it was all coming together.

BREAKING: Daniel Adler's Next Film to Be Star-Studded Crime Thriller The Usual Suspects for 2018 Release

Midas Productions announced today that Daniel Adler will return to the director's chair for his next film, The Usual Suspects, a crime thriller featuring an all-star ensemble cast.

The announcement marks Adler's second directorial effort following his critically acclaimed debut, The Witch, which is slated for theatrical release in September. The film has already won multiple awards on the festival circuit. However, unlike his atmospheric horror debut, The Usual Suspects promises to be a complex crime narrative driven by mystery and deception.

The official synopsis reads:

A con man is interrogated by the police after surviving a deadly shootout. When questioned about the incident, he reveals a story about five criminals led by a notorious mastermind named Keyser Söze.

The film boasts an impressive roster of talent:

Paul Dano

Robert Downey Jr.

Tom Hardy

LaKeith Stanfield

Michael Peña

Alfred Molina

Mads Mikkelsen

Scarlett Johansson

The casting has already generated significant buzz, particularly Downey Jr.

Principal photography is scheduled to begin in March 2018. Midas Productions released a striking promotional image alongside the announcement: a police lineup featuring five of the film's key cast members.

The announcement comes at a time when Adler is taking a step back from his intensive involvement with DC Studios to focus on other creative endeavors. Industry insiders view The Usual Suspects as Adler's opportunity to demonstrate his directorial range beyond genre filmmaking, proving he can helm a star-studded ensemble drama with the same skill he has shown in screenwriting and producing.

"Daniel's been a writer and producer on some of the biggest films of the last decade," said one studio executive. "Now he's showing he can direct them too."

The film is currently slated for a fall 2018 release, positioning it squarely in awards season. Given Adler's track record with critical darlings like Twelve Angry Men and The Revenant, expectations are already sky-high.
