Chapter 2 - The First Great War Explained

1. The Rise of the Fourteen LordsAfter the formation of the fourteen Lokas, life gradually emerged and flourished across the cosmic realms. What began as a universe governed by fundamental laws slowly became a universe inhabited by beings capable of understanding those laws.

Over countless generations, the greatest scholars of each Loka dedicated themselves to studying the four cosmic realities: Adi Shakti, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. They observed the behaviour of matter, unravelled the principles of energy, studied the forces that sustained existence, and discovered ways to influence reality through their knowledge.

Their mastery did not come from divine blessings or supernatural favour. It came from an understanding of the laws that governed the cosmos.

As their knowledge expanded, so did their capabilities. They learned to manipulate matter, command elemental forces, preserve life, and transform the physical world around them. Cities rose beyond anything their ancestors could have imagined. Civilisations flourished, knowledge accumulated, and the boundaries of what was possible continued to expand.

Eventually, the most powerful and intelligent individuals of each Loka rose above their peers. They became the guardians, rulers, and supreme authorities of their respective realms.

There were fourteen such rulers, each possessing extraordinary knowledge and mastery over the cosmic forces.

Together, they became known as the Fourteen Lords of the Lokas.

Those who aligned themselves with order, preservation, and the continued prosperity of the fourteen realms came to be known as the Devas.

Those who followed opposing philosophies, favouring a different interpretation of cosmic law and the use of power, became known as the Rakshas.

At first, these differences were merely disagreements among scholars.

But as their civilisations grew stronger, their disagreements became impossible to contain.

2. The Great DivisionThe fourteen Lords had once shared a common purpose: to understand reality and elevate their civilisations through knowledge.

Yet mastery over the cosmos did not guarantee unity of thought.

Some believed that the laws of reality existed to be understood and respected, and that power should be exercised to preserve the balance of existence.

Others believed that the same laws could be pushed to their limits, that the strongest and most knowledgeable beings had the right to reshape the cosmos according to their own vision, even if doing so demanded the destruction of existing systems.

Neither side lacked intelligence. Both possessed immense knowledge, advanced civilisations, and the ability to wield cosmic energy.

Their conflict arose from a fundamental disagreement over how that power should be used.

As negotiations failed and mistrust spread, the fourteen Lords divided into two opposing alliances.

Seven stood together as the Devas.

Seven united as the Rakshas.

The unity that had once connected the fourteen Lokas collapsed, and the greatest civilisations in existence began preparing for war.

Neither alliance was willing to surrender its understanding of how the universe should be governed.

And so began the conflict that would change the fate of all fourteen realms.

3. Why the War Began in the Middle LokaOf all the fourteen Lokas, the middle realm occupied a unique position.

It was the central point of the cosmic network, connected to the upper Lokas through one set of gates and to the lower Lokas through another. The flow of cosmic energy and the movement between realms made it strategically important to both alliances.

Yet the middle Loka possessed another characteristic that made it the ideal battlefield.

Its terrain was vast and unforgiving. Enormous stretches of barren land, harsh weather patterns, unstable regions, and extreme environmental conditions created a landscape where armies could manoeuvre across immense distances.

Unlike the other Lokas, whose geography and established civilisations might have made a large-scale war difficult to sustain, the middle realm offered both sides the space required to deploy their greatest forces.

Its central location also made it impossible for either alliance to ignore.

Whoever controlled the middle Loka would possess a strategic advantage over the connections linking the upper and lower realms.

Neither side could afford to let the other claim it.

The middle Loka, once a place of balance and connection, became the battleground upon which the fate of the entire cosmic order would be decided.

4. The War of Ten Thousand YearsThe war did not end in a single decisive battle.

It continued for ten thousand years.

Armies crossed continents. Cities became fortresses, fortresses became ruins, and entire regions were transformed by the repeated use of cosmic powers. The greatest scholars of the age turned their knowledge into weapons, devising ways to manipulate matter, unleash elemental forces, alter landscapes, and dismantle the structures upon which their enemies depended.

The Devas and Rakshas possessed comparable knowledge of reality. Every advance by one alliance was met with a countermeasure from the other.

The conflict evolved across generations. Strategies were refined, weapons were developed, and the mastery of cosmic laws advanced at an unprecedented rate.

But this progress came at a terrible cost.

The very knowledge that had allowed civilisations to flourish was now being used to destroy them.

The middle Loka endured ten thousand years of devastation. Its landscapes were scarred, its ecosystems collapsed, and its great cities were reduced to remnants of a forgotten age.

The conflict no longer threatened merely the rulers or their armies.

It threatened the realm itself.

And as the war continued, the cosmic network connecting the fourteen Lokas began to suffer irreversible damage.

5. The Destruction of the GatesThe gates connecting the Lokas had existed to maintain passage and communication between the realms. They were essential to the interconnected structure of the fourteen-world system.

During the final stages of the war, the battles surrounding these gateways intensified. Both alliances sought to prevent the other from gaining control over the routes connecting the cosmic realms.

Eventually, the gates linking the middle Loka to the upper Lokas were destroyed.

The gates connecting the middle Loka to the lower Lokas suffered the same fate.

With both sets of connections severed, the middle realm was isolated from the rest of the cosmic network.

The consequences were immediate and catastrophic.

The passage between the realms ceased. The exchange of knowledge, movement of armies, and established channels of communication came to an end. The interconnected system that had endured since the formation of the Lokas was broken.

The middle Loka had once been the central bridge between the upper and lower realms.

Now it stood alone.

The destruction of the gates did not simply change the course of the war. It marked the end of an era in which the fourteen Lokas had existed as a connected civilisation.

6. The Extinction of the Middle Loka's DevasWhen the final battles ended, the middle Loka had been devastated beyond recognition.

Its cities lay in ruins. Its lands had been ravaged by ten thousand years of conflict, and its connections to the other realms had been permanently severed.

But the greatest loss was the death of its own Devas.

The rulers who had once governed the middle Loka, mastered its cosmic energies, and presided over its civilisation were killed during the war.

With their deaths, the middle Loka lost its highest authorities, its greatest repositories of knowledge, and the beings who had once understood its place within the cosmic order.

No Devas remained to govern the realm.

No functioning gates remained to reconnect it with the other Lokas.

And no established authority remained to restore the civilisation that had been destroyed.

The middle Loka, once the central meeting point of the fourteen realms, had become a broken and isolated world.

The ten-thousand-year war had finally ended, but its consequences would outlast the conflict itself.

The upper and lower Lokas remained beyond the destroyed gates, separated from the realm that had once connected them.

The fourteen Lords were no longer united.

The middle Loka's Devas were dead.

And the cosmic order that had governed the connected era had fallen.

Thus ended the Age of the Fourteen Lords — not with the triumph of one united civilisation, but with the destruction of the realm that had once held their world together.
