Before I knew it, I was already incredibly tipsy.
I knew people always joked that getting drunk automatically meant you'd start hiccupping, but I had honestly assumed that was just one of those things people said for fun. Apparently not. Right now, I was actually hiccupping every now and then, which made it a lot harder to deny what state I was in.
"Are you already drunk, Hertrude?" Tris asked.
"Nope. I'm not," I replied immediately. "In fact, I feel as energized as ever."
"Fufufufu, you're drunk," she said without missing a beat. "Just look at how red your face is."
She was smiling from ear to ear.
Honestly, with that expression, she looked less like a friend and more like some kind of mischievous demon that had been waiting for exactly this moment.
Then she pointed toward the other side of the room.
"Do you see Johanne? She looks incredibly horny right now, and she's practically trying to seduce Leon."
