Chapter 12 - Chapter(12)

Episode(12): New path

SOVEREIGN OF DEATH~(12)

『Rare Class 'Necromancer' advances to the Unique Class 'Ruler of Death'』

My eyelids trembled as my consciousness slowly returned.

The notifications rang constantly like an alarm in the early morning.

My body felt stiff, as if it wasn't even my own. It might have only been a few minutes, however those few minutes felt like I had been out of my body for an eternity.

Even so the fanfare of notifications continued to chime.

Ugh!

A sharp pain struck me as I recalled that I was still pierced through by the sharp rock.

It was unbearable.

With shaky hands, I barely managed to push the wolf monster from above me. At the same time I felt as if I had no strength to push myself up.

Fortunately this rock doesn't seem durable.

With the strike of a fist, Nagisa broke the rock protruding his stomach before pushing off the rock and sliding down with a roll.

Ugh!

It still hurt even though I'd finally escaped danger. However, for some reason even though I was on the verge of dying my body seemed capable of avoiding death completely.

What was the logic behind it?

He didn't know.

Come to think of it, I got that new skill 'Reluctant', is this the effect? It was simply too strong!

Even the huge hole in his stomach was already healing at a pace visible to the eye.

In moments, with a few wisps of smoke and the hissing sound his flesh had completely been mended and it was as if he hadn't even been hurt.

Not only avoiding deadly damage, even high speed regeneration?

Hm?

Maybe it's not high speed regeneration.

Even though my flesh had returned to its original state, the blood loss was still there and even the lost magic didn't return immediately.

So, this skill wasn't a self-healing ability but more of a reset button.

If he were to put it in better terms, he was like a vampire. He could heal from any attack, however his energy and blood wouldn't recover along with his 'reset'.

The only difference is I don't suck blood.

In any case, with his physical body at the peak of humanity, recovering blood wouldn't take much time.

As for mana, well it's not like I used enough to worry about anyway.

With this ability, making it out of this dungeon is a fact rather than a hope!

As for what was ahead, he could not tell but life felt a bit more filled with light than before.

This wolf bastard!

Unable to stand the sight of the monster that nearly sent me to meet my maker, I got up and sat at the corner of the cavern.

He sat by the glowing crystals.

Is it my imagination, or are the crystals here much brighter than before.

And, even with his little know how about minerals he could tell this was much more previous than any diamond.

At the moment however this hardly mattered, it was time to rest and recover.

Steadying my breath, I closed my eyes and let out several breaths.

Meditation might do nothing, however it could help calm down breathing and ease the mind.

As soon as he thought about this-

<>

It was the same voice from earlier.

I was too caught up to think about it properly so I thought some monster was invading my mind, but since this is a fantasy world and this voice sounds like an internal notification prompter then perhaps it's like some voice of the world or something?

Well, then let's call it the worlds will, it will be inconvenient to always call it system or that voice.

There was also something else that caught his attention.

Rewards?

Was it for killing that bastard wolf?

<>

<>

Level 97?

What the-

Now I'm convinced! Someone must be out to get me!

Forget the fact that he was just level one and it was nearly impossible to beat a monster of this caliber, what in the world was a walking tank doing just strolling normally through the dungeon!?

So it really was a boss monster out of its cage!

Scary. Seems I have to be careful or I might bump into another incarnation of misfortune!

But then he thought about it again.

It didn't make sense for a boss to be out of its floor. Looking back, that bastard transformed mid fight. Did its level increase temporarily from some skill?

Then maybe because it died before its skill wore off the system judged that he had killed a level 97 monster?

Hm, doesn't that mean if I continued running I could have just waited for the skill duration to end?

Sigh, I'm a dumbass!

But he couldn't even complain, a pain so agonizing even giants would scream shot through his veins.

<>

Along with the message, the pain became even more unbearable.

Not until a few tens of minutes could he finally sit up, drenched in sweat and looking like he had been through a great disaster.

That pain was too much!

Since it came with the message that said my level increased, maybe gaining all those levels at once was too much of a burden on his body.

But, if I didn't have my inhuman physique wouldn't I have just burst open like a balloon?

He shivered at the thought.

Still, I could finally stand up. Not only were all my injuries gone, even my blood and energy had all recovered completely.

Now, all that's left is to think about the future.

I'm angry about being tossed away like some dirty rage, especially after the hell I've been through.

But, making revenge the focal point of life seemed too tiring.

What would he do after completing his revenge? Wouldn't life afterwards be meaningless?

That pigeon winged b*tch definitely has to suffer, but my life shouldn't revolve around those idiots 24/7.

Let's only think about revenge when the chance arrives.

In any case, it's not like I'd be able to return to my own world so I'd be stuck in this unknown world without any goals or dreams just being a dried fish all day and all night if I focused on revenge too much.

And, even if there was a way why would I want to return after being granted the chance to be free and unhindered?

No need to worry about school, swinging my sword all day and all night and being able to chop monsters into bits.

This was the dream life!

In any case, these would all have to wait for him to leave the dungeon first.

'Status'

[Kanata Nagisa–(Lv.25)]

[Class– Ruler of Death]

[Trait – Art of Death(EX-2), Master(EX), Reluctant(EX) ]

[Mana–2600/3700]

"Skills"

[Perception(A-)] [Swordplay(S-)] [Martial Arts(A+)] [Kanata Footwork(S)] [Body Control(A)] [Oneness(D)] [Mana UP(C+)]

The current level was a bit disappointing.

Killing such a powerful monster and all it amounted to was becoming level 25?

But, this wasn't a game where you could get a lot of exp even if you fought a higher leveled being.

This result was acceptable, at least he was no longer level one trash.

And with the increase of magic power, I can also keep my perception active all around the clock.

Still, it's not like perception uses mana. It was just the added effects of though acceleration and weakness detection with future sight that cost mana.

And future sight didn't seem to work well against living targets, or else how could I have gotten pummeled to this state.

It was either it didn't work activate against living creatures or the proficiency wasn't high enough.

Still, perception itself would not cost mana to activate.

There was even a new skill.

'Mana Up', it seemed to be a magic related ability at the least so he was glad since he didn't have many of those.

Noticing the plus sign at the side, I tapped it and additional information revealed itself.

[Mana UP(C+)]

A skill that was assigned to rare classes that were related to magic. Not all rare class holders would obtain this skill, only those that had a high aptitude for mana or those extremely high class rare occupations.

The skill would provide an additional 'permanent' boost to the total amount of magical energy acquired when leveling up.

Also, the higher ones control, aptitude and potential for magical advancement the more magical energy provided through the skill.

Raising proficiency in this skill was difficult and rather vague. You needed to increase not only your control, output and overall usage of magical energy. You needed to also learn and master more magic related abilities to increase the skill proficiency.

It felt like a cheat ability that was not a cheat ability.

Too many conditions were involved in increasing this skills proficiency and he felt that even if he learned all the magic there was in this world, the skills limit would probably be level(B+).

It also included magical talent and potential, I have no idea about this since I haven't even begun using magic.

Was my magic potential high or low?

Did Aoi have this skill? If I remember her class should be a top rare occupation?

The fact that others might have the skill was a bit disheartening, but he wasn't worried.

I don't know whether my magical potential or talent is high, but as for overall control and usage of mana, he had a fine control since the first time he activated perception.

He moved on to the next thing on his status.

[Ruler of Death]

*Unique class Created specifically for the one who conquered death. When in a situation where your health is lower than 70% your abilities will increase 50% and you will be invulnerable to any life-threatening attacks.

*You have gained the qualifications to transcend.

*All Attack and death related unique skills will be synergized and automatically evolved.

Great!

I was happy. With the additional enhancements granted through this title, along with the skills I already had plus what might be gained in the future there were barely any opponents left in my path!

Not to mention the increase that would be granted to the already powerful reluctant, if you couldn't reduce him to ashes in an instant then who could kill him?

I was basically immortal at this point!

He moved his eyes again.

[Master(EX)]

You are now able to Master all skills easier. It becomes easier to increase the proficiency of all skills and gain even more skills not belonging to your class. You also have an extreme control over all factors belong to yourself.

Hm, was this the skill that helped me understand that mysterious energy as a soul and boost my vitality?

Perhaps it was also what helped me understand magic so quickly.

[Reluctant(EX)]

Having overcome death once you are now more reluctant to die and your Restoration speed increases by 1000% when you are faced against any damage.

Resistance against death, now here was another trait granting him 10 times healing efficiency. This icing on the cake was too sweet!

But, it's just like I thought. Instead of saying regeneration, it says restoration.

[Art of Death(EX-2)]

This trait solely belongs to you. You are the ruler of death, mold corpses according to your expertise. A servant created with a ranking of over 70% can have their power duplicated through a special talisman that can be generated by the ruler once per day.

Hmm, this trait was a bit vague. But after thinking for a while, an idea came to mind.

Walking over to the wolf corps, Nagisa laid his palms flat on it and pictured a sword. A blade sharp enough to cut through boulders like paper and steel like butter.

Channeling art of death with that thought, he also imagined the process of making a sword from what he could remember.

Controlling his mana, he poured energy into the corpse.

'Come!'

『You have created the 'Solid Razor-Sharp Wolf Slayer Sword (Rare)'』

『You have accomplished a great feat. Skill 'Weapon Craft' has been given as a reward if your feat』

The corpse dispersed into particles of light and formed a massive red sphere hanging in the sky like the sun.

Feeling the transformation of mana inside, I let out a breath and continued to imagine the blacksmithing process.

With a final woosh, the red sphere vanished and in its place appeared a sword.

『Solid Razor-Sharp Wolf Slayer』

[Rank: Unique]

[Description: This sword was made from the corpse and bones of a 'wolf hell spawn' and became a wolf slayer. Against wolf type monsters the sharpness of the sword will increase by 35% while increasing the user's speed to 40%.

Requirements for use: Nagisa Kanata]

The sword was magnificent, as if crafted by a master smith.

Even gramps would kneel at the sight of this beauty.

Woosh!

Swinging the sword, it felt like a part of my body. Air was torn and there was no resistance whatsoever.

He was even more surprised by the increase in strength he felt.

Now, with the added equipment I no longer need to fear being attacked by those nasty monsters.

Just come and I'll show you who is boss!

No one knew what was to come. Even so, the journey ahead would definitely be more exciting!
