An hour later, Evan's phone rings; he immediately checks it and sees that it was Razor. "Open the gate now." Razor orders as soon as Evan answers the call, pressing the remote; Evan opens the gate and watches as three black SUVs drive in while two park on the outside.
As Mathayus stepped from one of the vehicles, the image that came to Evan's mind was that of the Grim Reaper, a very handsome version of the Grim Reaper. In full black, his long black coat blowing in the wind, his feet, which were clad in black Timberland, took determined steps towards him.
He also noticed that Mathayus wasn't paying attention to where those clad feet were stepping, as his dark gaze was fixed on him. The only thing missing from his grim reaper's outfit was the big axe. If he didn't know this man personally, there's no way he would even consider facing him right now; unfortunately, he would have to face him alone because Liah's mother had stepped inside a few minutes ago to help Liah with something.
Keeping this man from getting what he wanted was so not a good idea. "Please, Lord, let me be right.' He silently prayed as Mathayus came to a stop before him. "Hi, first of all, welcome back," Evan says with a slight bow, to which Mathayus nods slowly.
"Second, can I please have a few minutes of your time before you enter the house?" Evan asks. "The man has traveled a far way to see his pregnant girlfriend; now move." Razor orders, but Mathayus held up his palm to silence Razor, which again offended Razor, but he said nothing, grumbling under his breath. Razor walks back towards the vehicle he had just come out of.
"Your few minutes start now," Mathayus says shoving Evan's shoulder playfully as Evan stares at Razor's retreating back, if it wasn't clear before, it was clear now, Razor fear Mathayus, for him to be silence by someone and that person was allowed to continue breathing, for as long as Evan had known Razor he had never seen that happen, except with Mathayus.
The fact that Mathayus had shoved his shoulder in that playful manner took away some of Evan's anxiety, but just to be sure, he decided to ask anyway.
"Okay, so are you here to reconcile with Liah, or take her children from her?" Even ask. "Relax, I come in peace. I'm indeed here to reconcile with her, but that's only if she will have me." Mathayus says, biting his lips nervously. Another thing Evan noticed was that for as long as he had known this man, Liah was the only one capable of making him nervous.
"Well, seeing as though you are all she has been thinking about for the last few months, I don't see that being a problem. Alright, we'll catch up later; she has been waiting on you for months now, so go on." Evan smiles, moving aside so Mathayus could enter the house.
Taking a deep breath, Mathayus opened the door and stepped inside. He had only taken a few steps when Liah and her mother came out of the kitchen; both his and her steps halted at the same time as their eyes met, and the cup she was holding went crashing to the floor.
"Ma...Matha...Mathayus? No..no... You can't be here. There's no way you're actually here right now; I must be dreaming. This is just another dream, right? You're not here, you can't be." She cries, shaking her head vigorously. "Liah. There are a few things we need to discuss right now." He took a step towards her, and she took a few steps back, grabbing onto her mother; her mother's arms went around her in an attempt to shield her from him.
"Oh...no...you stay away from me." She cries as Antony rushes to her side. "Liah, calm down, I'm here, I won't let anything happen to you." "Tony? You brought him here? Tony, how could you?" She cries, pounding on his chest. "You know what this means? Tony, how could you do this?" "Blast it to hell, Liah. I didn't do shit. Now listen to me..."
"I won't let him take my babies, Tony, I won't." She screams. "Liah, that isn't my intention," Mathayus says, taking another step towards her, but again she backs away from him. "No...st...stay away, I won't let you have them...I ...won't." Her voice trails off as she faints in Anthony's and her mother's arms. Within seconds, Mathayus was by her side, with his arms around her waist.
"Stay the hell away from her," Anthony growls. "Let me repeat this: at present I come into this house in peace; do not make me retract that statement," Mathayus says, slowly turning his head, his dark eyes meeting Anthony's brown ones, and it was Anthony and her mother who ended up stepping away from her. "Where is her bedroom?" He asked, lifting her in his arms as if she weighed no more than an infant. "Thi...this way." Her mother stuttered, showing him to her room.
Taking her inside the room, he lay her gently on the bed, then turned to face everyone who had followed him. He noticed that Anthony was more on edge than anyone else as his fingers hovered near the handle of his weapon. Mathayus snorts and shakes his head before speaking
"Could you all just relax for a few minutes? I'm here in peace, alright." "Tell that to the small army you have camped out around this house." Anthony sneers. "My father sent them here for my protection." "Last I checked, you don't need protecting," Anthony adds.
"Exactly, but my father thinks differently. You all know for a fact that I can do a lot more damage by myself than that small army outside this house, so Anthony, please remove your hand from your weapon before you do something stupid that will endanger the life of your sister and my unborn children." His voice was calm, but the look he gave Anthony spoke volumes about what would happen if he didn't do as he was told.
His mother turned pleading eyes to him, and after glaring at Mathayus for another few seconds, he folded his hands across his chest instead. "Thank you," Mathayus says, turning to face the others. "Now, fact number one and the most important of all: I did not come here to separate Liah from her babies or to harm her in any way. If you all haven't noticed, I'm seriously in love with this woman."
"Even after all she said and did to you?" Anthony asked suspiciously. "Yes, even after all that, to be honest, I was more hurt because I thought she went back to her Ex, than I was about her accusation. I knew that man wasn't a good person, but I couldn't prove it, and the fact that I thought she was with him ripped me apart piece by piece each day." Mathayus sighs heavily.
"So now that you know the truth, what is your next move?" Anthony asks. "I'm hoping to marry her and...." "Wait, did you say marry her?" Anthony blurts out. "She is the mother of my children, and the woman I'm in love with; why would I not want to make her my wife?"
"Is that even possible?" Her mother asked. "I'll make it possible; now all of you need to stop looking at me as if I've grown another head and help me convince this beautiful woman to marry me."
"Are you sure your father will accept her as your wife?" Evan ask. "My father is the one that send me here, so I think he's already expecting this." "So are we good then despite everything that went down between us?" Anthony asks. "No, we're not good; we are family, which makes things a lot more complicated." Mathayus snorts.
"Meaning?" Evan asks. "With some family members you're good, but with others you just work out your shit the best way possible and move on. Speaking of which, I need to call my father." "Here is your phone, Your Highness," Lee says with a small bow as he hands Mathayus his phone. Taking the phone, he began dialling his father's number as he walked from the room.
