Making camp under an overhanging bank in the stream bed, with no fire and no shelter sheet, I got myself wrapped in the thermal layer with my back against wet stone and my arm wrapped in about a third of the med kit.
Below me the Green Belt had gone completely black. There were maybe forty small lights scattered across it, where people had decided that being warm was worth being visible.

I looked at that for a long moment, then turned the watch face-down against my leg so the light wouldn't carry.
Nine kills, all of them a class above where they should have been. Eleven tags. Five hundred points since six o'clock.
And I'm moving backwards.
Which means everybody down there is doing considerably better than I understood, and my entire read on this island was wrong, and I've got two days to fix it.
