Chapter 5 - Chapter 4: Early Morning

Chapter 5

Arthur had just finished with upgrading when he saw a world announcement.

[World Announcement.]

- An entity has sensed the descent of the lords and set the monsters of the world to attack, Every night, all monsters will enter a state of frenzy and attack all who pass indiscriminately as well as their power increases by 10 times. Killing monsters as this stat will allow the lords to chain more exp.

- Stay in your castles if you wish to survive

[end of the announcement]

The announcement surprised Arthur, and immediately after he heard loud shouts and roars pierce the skies. Then the earth shook. He was in the courtyard, so a simple turn of the head allowed him to view the plains. Loud roars shook the ground and from the tree line monsters emerged.

They numbered from Lamia to Treant Bears to Treant Giants and many other beasts. Each and every one of them had a dark aura around them.

"I see so that's why they were called corrupted," muttered Arthur as he witnessed the march of the tree monsters. He turned his gaze to look at the mountain in the distance and he saw it, Golems the size of houses some being 3 stories tall marched on his castle as well. A loud bang sent shockwaves in the air, and when he looked up he saw flocks of air monsters like bats and owls all descended and crashed into the barrier trying to break through.

"I'm guessing the sea monsters are attacking we well?" he asked Morgan who nodded.

"Yes sire."

Arthur frowned. "Can you take them?" he asked, while looking at the incoming monsters.

Morgan smiled but shook her head. "No my lord, the corruption is boosting their strength by a large margin, I suspect even creatures like Vampires who grow stronger during the night will perish when facing these monsters in this state," said Morgan. Arthur nodded before looking at the wall of monsters banging against the barrier surrounding the castle yard.

He searched for the strongest monsters, trying to find their true levels. Then after a few minutes, he found them. The strongest were level 10 monsters, with their base states of 100 to 200, boosted over 5 times making their combat strength around the 1000 base-line.

He closed his eyes. "Guess I'll have to make you guys hunt every day to boost your levels,"

"That would be for the best sire,"

"For now let's go to sleep to regain our strength,"

.OoO.

The next day, Arthur woke up and took a bath prepared for him before eating breakfast and moving to the courtyard. He found a pile of new monsters.

"Huh?" he asked in confusion, while they were no Sea creatures, all these were either Treants, Rage Bears, or golems, Stone bears, hunter tigers, and more. "What happened here?"

"Well sire, when night passed these monsters lost their ferocity and strength, so we decided to attack," said Galion. Looking to see Arthur noticed that the few Dragon-sworn who didn't move out with him the day before had also gained exp and now could also level up. He grinned and nodded to himself.

"Good, I was planning on building a wall but that would hinder us during these moments so I'll wait," said Arthur deciding that the moment the monsters decide the retreat would be best to attack them as they are weak and exhausted from their all-night raid. "Next time wake me up. I'll participate."

"Very well sire."

"Ok then please dismantle these," he said before moving on to post more food on the market, the same quantity as the day before. In about 10 minutes the food was all sold out, earning Arthur another 17,000 gold.

With this he moved on to the market, he checked for a furnace. This was a plan he came up moments before going to sleep. This was to get a furnace and upgrade the equipment of the soldiers.

He scrolled to see the price of the furnace blueprint.

[Stone furnace blueprint 10,000 gold]

"Damn, that's expensive." Muttered Arthur before purchasing the furnace blueprint. Then he summoned a dwarven dragon-sworn labourer.

[Stone Furnace (5 uses): 500 stones, 100 wood, 10 iron. Insta-build 1,000 gold]

He also took out the materials needed to make the furnace, and thanks the attack of the stone and rock golems he gained just enough materials to build all 5 including the stones in this starter bonus.

The dwarves approached and kneeled in front of Arthur. "Lord!" they said in unison.

"Ok guys please use these materials and blueprints to make the 5 stone furnaces, then you can start making items for the others," he said ordering five of the 10 dwarves, the others he paired with 2 human dragon-sworn units, 2 dwarven dragon-sworn units, and 2 elven dragon-sworn units and asked them to go mine for stones in the mountains with soldier units as protection.

Morgan was given the order to hunt in the sea once more. Arthur descended to the bottom of the castle and looked at the nest.

'Let's see, I now have 33,500 gold left. I'll summon 2 dragon-borne, 10 dragon kin and 8 labourers. That makes 20 in total. That will be enough for now.' Thought Arthur before holding a handout to the nest.

[Summoning 20 units, please make your selection...]

"Give me 2 dragon-borne soldiers, Wyvern and Wyrm. 10 Dragon-kin, 2 mages, 2 priests, 2 tanks, 2 fighters, and 2 rangers, and finally 8 dragon sworn laborers 4 elven, 4 dwarven, and 2 humans."

[Commencing summoning...]

In a flash of dazzling light, 20 units appeared in front of Arthur. Most didn't differ much from the ones he already knew aside from the Dragon-kin soldiers, being over 2 meters tall and possessing dragon wings on their backs. After checking their base stats Arthur discovered they were in their 30's while they held skills similar to the dragon-sworn soldiers.

What intrigued him were the mage and priest units, who held more magic stats than their physical but even the physical were relatively decent. Then he shifted to the wyrm and wyvern.

The wyrm was a large man with dark tanned skin and dragon scales covering portions of his body, and spikes here and there. He wasn't wearing any clothing aside from pants and a simple cloak over it. His brown eyes shined with viciousness.

[ Dragon-borne soldier: Holran

He nodded and moved on to the Wyvern. It took the form of a man draped in a leathery cloak with light boots, and horns atop his head. It made him seem rather mysterious.

[ Dragon-borne soldier: Lucias

Then he gave commands, the earth wyrm was to reinforce the dwarves while he himself was going with Galion and Lucius to the forest.
