After spending a while upstairs, Liu Banxia wandered back down.
"Director Chen isn't here. Is he performing surgery on that patient?" Liu Banxia asked.
"He's currently in the ICU and on ECMO. Likely a major thoracotomy will be needed," Qi Wentai said.
"The key is to assess the extent of lung damage. If too many alveoli are ruptured, it could be dangerous. It's like a tire; how can it have such force?" Liu Banxia muttered.
"That's right; you could say it's like coming back from the battlefield after being hit by a shell," Qi Wentai replied.
"It's a freak accident. Normally it wouldn't be this severe. It's like accidentally falling and damaging the spleen," Liu Banxia said.
Sometimes, symptoms can be remarkably unpredictable.
There may have been other factors at play that Liu Banxia and his team couldn't ascertain, but the current outcome is indeed severe.
"I'm going to do a round in the anesthesiology department. Call me if there's anything," Liu Banxia said.
