Seeing there was no hope of staying, and that she might even have to bear a huge compensation, Selim grew increasingly afraid.
She began to think about begging for mercy.
Trembling, she walked over to Laura Jones and tried to take her hand, but Laura, with a cold face, stepped away.
"Laura, I'm sorry. For the sake of our friendship, can you let me off this time? I promise, I promise I won't bother you again, alright?"
Laura Jones had only intended to scare Selim; she couldn't really afford to compensate her.
But spending this time to see through someone wasn't a total loss.
"You can go."
Laura showed not a hint of softness, "This time, I won't ask you for compensation. From now on, you should look after yourself."
"Okay... I... I understand, thank you, Laura."
She theatrically wiped nonexistent tears from her face and turned to walk back into the house.
Soon, Laura saw her holding a computer and dragging a suitcase, her eyes red, as she headed out.
