Looking at how awkward she was being, Maxwell Peary's eyes were filled with laughter.
"I wanted you to sleep a little longer."
He explained gently, reaching out to hold her two fair hands that were fixing his tie.
Nia Mitchell froze, standing there without moving an inch.
"But you said you'd call me before."
This was totally going back on his word; he was clearly lying.
This kind of thing is so annoying. Since he wasn't going to call her, he shouldn't have said it in the first place.
Now he'd said it, but didn't do it.
How could she possibly not be mad.
"Be good, don't be mad anymore. From now on if I say I'll call you, I definitely will, okay?"
Maxwell Peary coaxed her, reaching out to ruffle her hair.
"Be good and stay home with Mom. I'll try to come back early tonight."
He was just like an ordinary husband heading off to work, and she was like a very ordinary housewife.
