Chapter 35 - The Sacred Bond Of Two Souls

Sunrays seep through the glass of a greenhouse made for dreams;

Made by their Lord's mighty hands.

And here she comes... Heaven incarnate;

Glowing in a dreamlike, flaring gown of white.

Stealing his breath, as she lifts her eyes to his;

A bride, daughter of Light, his Angel of Light.

Birds sing and butterflies flutter in harmony around her; weaving tales of the Lord's greatest miracle along this lingering page.

And here she comes... forever away still;

His heart racing with fear, as her fingers clench around the bouquet of roses.

She's everything he's wanted and more;

So please... he prays, stay,

daughter of Love, my Angel of Love.

A path of flowers blossoms and scatters before her; and she's the most ethereal of all the Lord's endless creations.

Here... here she comes... one step, another;

Drifting away doubts, she'll stand beside him.

A soaring euphoria sweeps through him;

His missing rib, shall saunter along all the days and eternity with him.

And he's complete, with the precious daughter of Life, with his Angel of Life.

He's unable to help himself from reaching for her...

A soft smile touches her lips as she lays her hand in his.

Up the aisle they step closer toward a bond;

A sacred bond of two flesh and two souls.

Intertwined souls, and intertwined hands;

All he can see and think and feel is her.

All she can see and think and feel is him...

And she knows the love, the promise, the beauty... in those watery eyes holding hers.

And he's done wandering alone through wilderness, through desert and darkness;

For now she'll be all his, for they are all His.

A river of fate flows toward him, with Earth's abandon, with her will, and with her Father's love.

He's an ocean of home for her strange heart;

A mirror to her flesh and soul, her one in all.

And she offers her all and more to him;

For she... oh, for she loves... she loves him...

A smile tugs at his lips as the Reverend begins the ceremony with a prayer.

He gently squeezes her hands as the message about a sacred mystery of marriage, woven through the chapter two of the Book of Genesis, is spoken over them.

Her breath grows shallow as the Reverend asks her groom, "Do you, Rhett Lei, take Neva Evara Noe, to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"

"I do," he says, his voice as soft as a feather.

His eyes never leave hers, chasing until they thread to the mirror of her tangled soul.

Then the Reverend turns to her, and asks, "Do you, Neva Evara Noe, take Rhett Lei, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer,

in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part?"

And as the breeze carries her Father's gentle voice, it unravels the tangled threads within her soul...

Her groom's hands tighten around hers, his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallows hard.

She meets his eyes, love and fear waging war within them, and she makes certain love prevails, their love, and the Lord's as she says, "I do," and binds his red thread to her golden one, sealing the sacred covenant of marriage... here, and with him forevermore.

He takes the ring resting upon a golden plate, and reaches for her hand.

He holds her hand as though he might shatter her, then gently slips the gold ring, engraved in roses, vines, and leaves onto the fourth finger of her left hand.

He smiles as she takes his hand in hers, his calloused skin rough against her own.

Carefully, she slides the coupled gold ring onto the fourth finger of his left hand.

The Reverend smiles then. "You may kiss the bride."

But Rhett is already moving,

butterflies dancing in her belly as he draws her close by the waist.

"I love you," he whispers, his chin trembling ever so slightly.

A soft chuckle escapes her as she caresses his cheek, whispering back, "I love you."

And she melts into him as he kisses her, losing breath, and yet nourishing her spirit to eternity.

They shall grow, steadfast through hardship, softer through happiness, and Father shall remain within the space of their togetherness. For it takes two to get married, but three, to stay married.
