Chapter 148 - Chapter 148

"You should have stayed in the dormitory lady, you're definitely talking crazy."

He whispered to her ears expecting that she'd turn around.

Damon on the other hand looked at her, "dead things ought to stay dead when killed, quit the bullshit and just move on " He probed not giving a clear response as to weather he knew what she was saying or not.

Fiona on hearing them both trying to dismiss her slowly left her seat and walked to the two girls dramatically bumping into them both almost making them spill their drinks on themselves. They looked at her with a frown and the tall one said she should watch it while the latter asked if she was alright.

This time around, she heard a screeching sound along with the cry for help followed by the reeving sound of a car. She immediately grabbed Damon by the head using her necromancy ability to allow him to also hear the voices.

More than the voice, Damon saw the the oilskin yellow raincoat, then a the blurry face of the naked girl along side the van packed outside the house. Then the sound of it moving with a screech and the wails of help all overwhelming him at once that a gasp escaped his mouth. Fiona on the other hand started bleeding from her nose with suddenly trembling almost falling to the ground.

Luckily, Damon caught her by the waist and helped her back to the seat she had pulled to there middle. Ryan watched all this and couldn't help but ask,

" What's with the crazy reaction from you both".

"I must say I apologize for this drama, my friend seems to be out of it this evening due to a break up" Damon said having noticed that the crowds attention was towards them.

The singers on stage caught up on his words laughed and began singing in a slow soothing tone along with the pianist. Ryan still staring at them both gulped down the glass of rej.

"Well it seems she not lying. Still we need to be careful...why not take out leave and talk outside" Damon suggested as he signaled to the waiter slipping into his hands a few dollars.

Ryan nodded in agreement and helped Fiona up while he put his jacket around her shoulders they both walking outside and when they about reaching the door, they bumped into a man who had a metal stainless cup in his hands which at the moment was about to hit the ground.

But Ryan unconsciously steadied the cup as it hit the cup gently which very much surprised the man, luckily, Damon had his back against the camera and he as if to pat the man he compelled him.

" You didn't see anything and you are just imagining things".

During this period in which many government spies take actions at the smallest bit of rumor they had to be careful.

"I'm not going back to the dorms," she whispered, her voice shaking staring directly into the shadow beneath Ryan's jacket.

"And I'm not leaving without an answer, how did you do the cup trick?, is that why your shadow sounds like a gallows every time I'm around you." The cold air of the alley hit Fiona's face, cutting through the dense heat of the rye whiskey.

"The touch," Damon's voice low barely carried past the brickwork. He leaned his back against the damp wall, his hands tucked elegantly into his pockets. "It wasn't just a vision, Fiona" he paused bring out his pocket watch to check the time, "projection of an ongoing event... I haven't felt a chill like that since my early years as a creature of the night."

Fiona's head jerked up, her eyes wide and glassy under the amber shadow of the brick alley. " I knew it!" she whispered back, her voice cracking. "What does that mean? What did you feel?"

Damon let out a mocking laugh—a musical sound that carried a edge of disbelief. He looked down at her, shaking his head. "For someone who acts so incredibly sharp, I must say I'm surprised by how less knowledgeable you are. I thought you were smart since you figured out exactly what I was the moment we sat down at that table, didn't you?"

Fiona wiped a lingering trace of crimson from her lip with the back of her trembling hand, her voice dropping into defensive whisper. "I wasn't completely sure until you literally just said it a few moments ago you know."

Ryan glanced over at Damon, his brow furrowing as he didn't know what to say to answer Fiona questions. He stayed silent for a beat, his eyes tracking a slow-moving police cruiser passing the far end of the boulevard.

" You don't need to look at me, I can always compel her to forget today's discussion if it need be" Damon sighed.

"If we're dropping our masks out here," Ryan whispered, turning his gaze back down toward Fiona, "then I happen to have the ability to manipulate and control metals at a will with my limbs, hence the reason for the clanking sound you've been hearing in your ears every time you're near me I guess."

Fiona let out a dry, ragged breath, shaking her head as she pulled his heavy jacket tighter around her chest the cold breeze wasn't any gentler as it brushed past her.

"I don't think so," she sneezed.

"That's not, It isn't the first time I've run into a superhuman with a metal ability. I've seen them before in the mining sites back home, and their presence didn't give me a reaction like this. Yours on the other hand doesn't feel like metal only, more like sickle."
