By this stage of my journey, I had come to understand that success is not achieved overnight. Every lesson I had learned, every mistake I had made, and every challenge I had overcome was shaping me into a better musician and a stronger person.
As I continued preparing for my Grade 5 practical examination at MUSON, I realized there was still so much to learn. My sight-reading had improved, but I knew I needed to keep practicing. Some days were encouraging, while others reminded me how much further I had to go.
Looking back, I remembered the days when I struggled to understand music theory, the time I failed my Grade 3 theory examination because of nervousness, and the period when financial difficulties forced me to pause my studies. I also remembered the joy of returning, passing my exams, and seeing my parents smile as they noticed my progress.
Every stage of the journey had taught me something valuable. Music was not only teaching me how to play the piano—it was teaching me patience, discipline, humility, and perseverance.
One thought stayed with me every time I sat at the piano:
"Every great author starts with one chapter. Every great musician starts with one note."
Those words reminded me that every dream begins with a small step. No one becomes excellent in a single day. Every piece I learned, every chapter I wrote, and every hour I spent practicing brought me closer to the person I wanted to become.
Although I had not yet reached my final destination, I was no longer afraid of the journey ahead. I knew that as long as I continued to trust God, work hard, and never give up, my story was still being written—one chapter and one note at a time.
