Chapter 20 - 13) Meeting Unemployed NEET Wolf

...

{3rd Pov}

Subaru let out a long yawn while sitting inside the slightly shaky carriage, staring ahead at the ancient Japanese-style city that slowly came into clearer view.

The wooden rooftops, paper windows, and overall architecture reminded him a little of his old world, though the atmosphere here felt entirely different.

It was like seeing a nostalgic memory through a distorted lens.

"Sir, we have arrived at the city—Banan," the carriage driver, a demi-human with a calm and respectful voice, announced while guiding the carriage to a stop near the city's outer path.

Subaru stretched his stiff shoulders, mentally reviewing everything he did before getting here.

After leaving the mansion, he dealt with Otto and purchased all the oil from him at market price.

Even after that, the transaction barely cost Subaru a few gold coins, which wasn't even close to a full Royal Gold Coin.

That part, at least, was a relief.

Counting everything properly, he still had around twenty-nine Royal Gold Coins remaining, along with a little extra money in cheap gold coins.

After paying the carriage driver his wages, Subaru would still be secure financially, at least for now.

That thought alone made him exhale a quiet sigh of relief, though he wasn't relaxed enough to drop his guard.

'Okay, so money-wise, I'm not on the edge yet,' he thought while gripping his pouch of coins.

But his real issues were only beginning.

He needed a house first—a proper roof over his head.

Without a place to live, all his plans could collapse instantly.

If something unexpected happened, the last thing he wanted was to become homeless in another world.

After securing shelter, he needed a stable passive income—something reliable that worked even when he couldn't.

Only after those fundamentals were dealt with would he dare to move on to his bigger goal.

He glanced again at the Royal Gold Coins Ram had given him.

These coins were more than money; they were his lifeline and the foundation of his future business.

Subaru was determined to use them wisely.

Once he was settled and safe, he would finally start working on introducing something from his world—something he believed would definitely sell well here, even if he wasn't entirely sure how difficult the journey would be.

Maybe a printing press?

Or a stitching machine?

Subaru's thoughts began wandering into ambitious territory again.

Eventually, he dreamed of sparking a full-blown industrial revolution in this world—building factories, inventing proper machinery, maybe even creating cars.

But for now, all of that remained nothing more than huge ideas floating around inside his head.

None of it was remotely close to happening anytime soon.

'And… once I actually find a quiet and private area, I also need to test that new ability I gained,' Subaru reminded himself, feeling a strange mix of anxiety and curiosity.

The Witch Factor he absorbed after killing Petelgeuse had finally manifested into a usable power.

The ability was similar to the shadow hands Petelgeuse used—and also the ones belonging to Satella, the Witch of Envy.

Without any surprise at all, Subaru discovered that his own shadow hands were invisible to the naked eye as well.

He had already performed the simplest possible experiment and learned he could summon more than a dozen of those hands, maybe even a bit more if he pushed himself harder.

It wasn't a small number, and the potential was honestly terrifying.

Still, Subaru couldn't help but feel deeply uncomfortable with it.

These shadow hands were a power connected to the two individuals in this world who had caused him some of his worst trauma and suffering.

Petelgeuse had brutally murdered both him and Rem over and over in different loops, while Satella herself was… well, Satella.

The source of Return by Death and endless nightmares.

He felt disgusted even thinking about her.

Even though he despised the abilities tied to them, Subaru was well aware that these shadow hands might currently be his only practical means of combat in a world where even the average person could be considered superhuman by Earth's standards.

He didn't have sword skills, he wasn't physically strong, and magic was still something he could barely handle properly not to mention his gate was half-dead.

Besides, he couldn't rely on summoning the damn Witch of Envy every time he was in danger. It wasn't some convenient cheat button he could press.

Imagine a bunch of random goons showing up with cheap weapons, and Subaru ends up calling Satella just to deal with them.

It would be like launching a nuclear missile at a handful of thugs who only have bats and rusty knives.

Absolutely ridiculous and definitely not something he wanted to do, that will only hurt his self-esteem.

Because of all that, Subaru needed to fully test and understand his new ability.

He needed to learn how far he could push those shadow hands, what their limits were, and how to fight properly using them.

Once he found an isolated and safe place, that would be the first real step in figuring out how to use his power without losing control—or his sanity.

"Say, Sir Quiso… how much do you think it will cost me to buy a house here?" Subaru suddenly asked the carriage driver as the vehicle rolled to a halt behind a long line of other carriages waiting to enter the city.

The entrance was busy, filled with merchants, travelers, and guards checking everyone before letting them through.

Quiso scratched his cheek with a slightly puzzled expression before answering.

"Ah, well first of all, Sir, you'll need to convert your Lugunican currency into Kararagi Shells. We don't use the same currency here. After that… hmm, let me think for a moment."

He tapped his chin, calculating in his head.

"For a decent house inside the city—something with two or three floors and around two or three rooms on each floor—you'd be looking at roughly ten Royal Gold Coins at the very minimum. Probably more depending on the exact location and condition."

Subaru's eyes widened slightly at the number.

Ten Royal Gold Coins just to get a normal house?

That was way more expensive than he hoped.

He hoped it would be cheaper, after all making prototype machines wouldn't be cheap.

But considering the place, it made sense.

Banan wasn't just any random city.

It was recognized as one of the ten major cities in the entire Kararagi City-State. With high status came high living costs, especially for property.

Real estate here might as well have its own inflated market.

(A/N: Please note that I am following the Web Novel version here, since Kararagi in the Light Novel differs and we don't have as much detailed information there.)

Even knowing the logic behind it, Subaru still winced at the painful price.

That amount would eat up a large portion of what he had.

If anything unexpected happened later, he might end up completely broke.

A new thought then sparked in his head, giving him a possible alternative.

"Okay, then what about the price on the outskirts?" Subaru asked, hoping the cost wouldn't be equally terrifying outside the city's center.

He leaned forward a little, almost nervous to hear the answer but still determined to find something he could actually afford without burning half of his money.

Quiso stayed quiet for a few seconds, his ears drooping slightly as he thought about how to respond.

After a moment of hesitation, he finally spoke in a careful tone.

"Sir Pleiades, if I may be honest, I would strongly advise against purchasing a house in the outskirts. While the area around Banan might appear peaceful at first glance, thefts, gang-related skirmishes, and even monster attacks are not rare occurrences. Living outside the protective city walls can be dangerous, especially at night."

Subaru could tell the demi-human wasn't trying to scare him for no reason.

Quiso's warning was sincere — he was genuinely concerned for Subaru's safety.

And if Subaru didn't have a certain terrifying being residing inside his shadow, he probably would have agreed and immediately abandoned the idea.

Unfortunately — or perhaps fortunately — his situation was far from normal.

"You don't have to worry about that too much, Sir Quiso," Subaru replied with a confident grin, exposing his clean white teeth as he puffed out his chest just a little.

"I might not look impressive right now, but I'm actually pretty strong when I need to be."

The merchant looked at Subaru's skinny arms and unimpressive appearance for a moment, clearly not convinced at all.

Still, he let out a long sigh and gave up trying to persuade him.

"Very well, Sir Pleiades… if you insist, I won't push the matter further. Just keep in mind what I said. As for the prices — in the outskirts, you should be able to find a decent two-floor house for around two to three Royal Gold Coins. If luck is really on your side, you might even get one for just a single Royal Gold Coin."

Subaru's eyes widened in excitement as soon as he heard the price.

This changed everything.

For his goals, a house outside the busy city center actually sounded perfect.

He would have the privacy he needed to test and train his newly gained shadow hands.

No nosy neighbors watching.

No guards questioning suspicious noises.

He could also freely work on any machines or inventions he planned to introduce from Earth without worrying about people discovering anything unusual too early.

And the best part?

It would be cheap.

Ridiculously cheap compared to living inside the city walls.

He would save a massive amount of money, leaving him with enough Royal Gold Coins to invest properly into his projects — along with having backup funds in case something went wrong, which with his luck, was basically guaranteed to happen sooner or later.

A house on the outskirts wasn't just good — it was the most suitable option for Subaru's current situation.

He was practically already imagining his workshop and training area.

As for the potential dangers of living outside the city walls?

Subaru honestly didn't give a fuck about that.

In his personal opinion, the greatest threat in the entire world was already lurking inside his own shadow.

Compared to that, anything else just felt like minor annoyances.

Even if the entire Witch Cult decided to march right up to his doorstep tomorrow — screaming, chanting, and bragging about their ridiculous beliefs — Subaru could simply summon the Witch of Envy and erase their existence along with their entire bloodline before they even realized what was happening.

So what if they were considered the most terrifying and insane villains this world had to offer?

Subaru had someone far more dangerous backing him, whether he liked it or not.

Satella, the Witch of Envy — someone who could easily be considered the true final boss of any RPG ever made.

A being so overwhelmingly powerful that every other villain on the planet might as well be nothing more than bird droppings splattered on the pavement in comparison.

Sure, Subaru hated her.

She had ruined his life more times than he could count.

She frightened him more than anything else.

But the mere fact that she was connected to him — literally residing in his shadow — meant he had a trump card stronger than anything anyone else could dream of possessing.

So while Subaru was mentally hyping up the Witch of Envy in his mind, despite every part of him wanting to dislike her forever, the carriage finally passed through the main city gate.

The guards barely gave them more than a quick inspection before waving them onward.

Slowly and steadily, the carriage made its way through the crowded streets, heading straight toward the city hall where Subaru's real business would begin.

Once they finally arrived at the extremely busy and lively city hall, Quiso guided the carriage toward a designated parking area.

The place was specifically meant for travelers and merchants to safely leave their carriages.

Several guards were stationed there, keeping a watchful eye to prevent any theft or suspicious activity.

Of course, the security came with a price — one silver coin, or one Kararagi Shell, for each day you wanted your vehicle protected.

Subaru paid the small fee without complaint, since losing the oil he purchased from Otto would only cause more headaches.

After securing the carriage, Subaru followed Quiso inside the city hall building.

He was ready to handle the next important step: officially becoming a resident of Kararagi.

The building was packed with all kinds of people — humans, demi-humans, and different races moving around, talking, arguing, and handling legal paperwork.

It felt like a chaotic government office from his old world, just with more animal ears everywhere.

When they reached the reception counter, Subaru's eyes widened.

The receptionist was a female demi-human with soft fur-covered cat ears and a swishy tail.

She was the very definition of a real catwoman.

For a moment, Subaru felt like crying tears of joy.

Finally — an actual catgirl in the flesh!

Not a feminine boy like Felix, who looked cute but had the personality and mouth of someone who enjoyed verbally stabbing people every chance he got with shit tongue of his.

Subaru stared for a second longer than he should have, appreciating the sight and mentally celebrating this victory.

Unfortunately, he didn't notice that his Witch's scent — the one that sometimes leaked out whenever he got emotionally excited for someone else than Envy— had slightly intensified around him.

But he quickly forced himself to snap out of it before anyone thought he was some creep drooling over the staff.

Straightening his posture, he walked up properly and let Quiso do the talking.

The carriage driver politely explained what Subaru needed: registration for citizenship.

The cat-eared receptionist nodded, reached into a drawer, and began pulling out several sheets of paperwork.

"There will be a processing fee of two silver coins," she said in a professional tone while placing the documents in front of them.

Subaru immediately paid the fee and took the papers, mentally preparing himself to sign whatever forms were necessary to start his new life in Kararagi.

"Very well, Sir. Please state your full name," the cat-eared receptionist asked as she picked up her pen, ready to write the details down.

"My name is Pleiades…" Subaru answered confidently.

The moment the name left his mouth, the woman's hand slipped slightly, and she almost dropped the pen.

She stared directly at Subaru with a weird, suspicious expression as if she couldn't believe what she had just heard.

Subaru let out a dry, awkward chuckle to cover the sudden tension.

"Yeah, I know, I know. It sounds strange. My parents were huge fans of the Three Heroes, so they ended up giving me a name like that. Most people just call me Plead. Sir Plead works fine too."

Hearing his explanation, the woman slowly relaxed, letting out a soft sigh.

She nodded with a tired, knowing look while mumbling something about eccentric parents who name their kids the most ridiculous things.

Clearly, she had encountered similar cases before.

He gave a mental apology to his parents.

Subaru had started using this new name earlier—ever since he parted ways with Otto and hired Quiso to transport him to Banan along with the shipment of oil he bought.

He didn't want his original identity spreading around.

Even if the chances were extremely low, he didn't want anyone recognizing him and causing trouble just because he was the one to create the chaos back in Lugunica.

And the name "Pleiades" wasn't chosen randomly either.

He had put a surprising amount of thought into it.

For one, it was directly linked to his own real name — Natsuki Subaru — since Pleiades was essentially another name referencing his origin.

Secondly, the name held significant symbolism for his current situation.

The Pleiades Watchtower was known as the place that once sealed the Witch of Envy.

However, and this was a major spoiler for anyone who didn't know — she wasn't exactly sealed anymore.

In fact, she was currently living inside his shadow, clinging to him like some obsessive ghost girlfriend from hell.

Now Subaru was essentially the new "Pleiades."

He was the leash around Satella's neck — the reason she hadn't broken free and devoured the rest of the world yet.

She willingly stuck to him after he face fisted her enough, practically acting like his terrifying pet, even though he absolutely hated how accurate that description was.

So if anything, Od Laguna should be grateful he was keeping the world intact.

Because the moment Subaru lost control or died for real… half the world might just vanish as her next meal.

Yeah.

Subaru was doing everyone a huge favor.

After the naming part was finally settled, the receptionist continued with the usual procedure.

She asked Subaru several basic questions: his age, his former country of residence, the purpose of his stay in Banan, and whether he had any relatives or companions with him.

Subaru answered everything honestly — or at least, as honestly as he could while maintaining his new identity.

Once she finished recording all the information, she stamped a set of papers and handed him his freshly issued identity proof.

With that important task completed, Subaru moved on to the next piece of business: opening a bank account to store his money safely.

Thankfully, since Banan served as a major commercial hub between Kararagi and Lugunica, the banks here were experienced with foreign currency.

He didn't need to pay an additional currency conversion fee to store his Lugunican funds, which saved him a decent chunk of his finances.

However, his mood soured slightly when he learned that the most reliable and highest-ranked bank in the city was owned by none other than the Hoshin Company.

The instant he heard the name, Subaru felt something bitter churn inside him. Maybe it was pure pettiness or just lingering annoyance from the past, but he didn't want anything to do with that company.

So, out of sheer stubbornness, he decided to pick the second-best major merchant company's bank instead.

Even if it wasn't the most top-tier option, his pride felt a lot more comfortable depositing money somewhere that didn't have Hoshin in big letters on the front.

Of course, he didn't deposit everything.

Subaru withdrew enough funds to cover immediate expenses — mainly a place to sleep and store his belongings.

He located a decent-looking inn near the more crowded part of the district, one that offered basic storage services for travelers and merchants who carried valuable goods.

He paid for a single room and a single day of storage service, wanting to keep his schedule flexible while he searched for a permanent home.

After that, Subaru paid the remaining wages he owed to Quiso, thanking him for his help and honest guidance along the way.

The two parted on friendly terms, with the carriage driver wishing Subaru a safe and prosperous future in Banan.

Subaru waved him off, now fully on his own in this new city — with a fresh identity, a developing power, and a head full of ambitious plans just waiting to unfold.

The next morning, Subaru returned to the city hall, this time completely on his own.

Yesterday had been crammed with registration, banking, and settling down at the inn, so he hadn't gotten the chance to handle the most important task.

But today's priority was simple and crucial: buy a decent house on the outskirts of the city.

He needed a base of operations to move his plans forward.

Once again, Subaru decisively avoided anything related to the Hoshin Trading Company, refusing to give them even a single coin if he could help it.

Instead, he approached a different well-known merchant group operating within Banan.

After briefly explaining what he wanted — property outside the city walls — the clerk nodded politely and arranged for a housing dealer to assist him.

Of course, from the dealer's perspective, Subaru wasn't exactly a profitable client.

Outskirts housing was cheaper and didn't bring in fat commissions, so he wasn't treated like some VIP investor or anything close to that.

Instead, a rookie salesman was hurriedly called over and assigned to Subaru.

The poor salesman looked nervous yet eager to prove himself.

He bowed stiffly before speaking in a slightly shaky voice, promising to guide Subaru to the outskirts and show him all available listings that matched his requirements.

Subaru didn't mind.

As long as he got the house he wanted, who handled the sale didn't matter.

They were just about to head out to arrange a carriage to take them to the outskirts when a rough yet relaxed voice cut in from the side.

"Oi, Gonzo, ya wouldn't mind if I take over as his guide, would ya?"

Subaru turned around to see who had spoken — and was met with the sight of a tall demi-human.

The man resembled a wolf, with long, black fur that seemed messy yet oddly well-kept at the same time.

He wore a black kimono that had clearly seen better days, decorated with faded purple accents that hinted it was once more dignified.

His golden eyes were sharp and narrow, resembling the slits of a predator assessing its surroundings.

Yet his posture and aura were laid-back, almost lazy, like someone who didn't care much about appearances or formalities.

The young salesman immediately froze in sheer surprise, his body stiffening like a statue as he trembled, trying his best to form coherent words.

"S-Sir! S-Sir Halibel!" he stuttered out, completely overwhelmed and unable to speak properly in front of the imposing newcomer.

Meanwhile, the dealer—Gonzo—quickly stood up from his seat and bowed politely, trying to maintain manners despite his growing anxiety.

"Sir Halibel, there is absolutely no need for you to personally act as this customer's guide!" he insisted, his tone flustered yet respectful, clearly afraid to inconvenience such a well-known individual.

Halibel, however, simply let out a loud, booming laugh, waving his clawed hand dismissively as if Gonzo's concern wasn't even worth acknowledging.

"Unfortunately for you, Gonzo, I wasn't asking for permission," he replied with a mischievous smirk.

"Besides, I get the feeling that if I don't keep an eye on this guy, there might not even be a 'Banan' left standing by tomorrow!" he added, acting as though he had just delivered the world's funniest joke.

Subaru's eyebrow twitched violently at that statement.

'Seriously?! Do my eyes look THAT intimidating?' Subaru internally complained, feeling both irritated and confused at the accusation.

He couldn't bring himself to believe that this random wolf demi-human could somehow see the shadow of the Witch of Envy lurking underneath him.

After all, back in the Royal Capital of Lugunica, even when the Witch's presence manifested, no one had reacted with this kind of instant detection, heck no even noticed that the literal Witch of Envy manifested on the outskirts for half an hour before vanishing to his shadow.

Rem—who had been equipped with magical sensors specifically attuned to Witch Cult activity and Witch miasma—had never once sensed anything different about the shadow following him.

And Subaru was absolutely sure that the Witch of Envy resided in a completely different space, a sealed-off dimension entirely separate from physical reality.

His shadow merely acted like a gate or passage, a thin connection between worlds, not an actual reveal of her presence.

So, in Subaru's mind, the only logical explanation was that this demi-human had simply misunderstood something and assumed Subaru looked like a dangerous troublemaker.

Especially considering his naturally sharp, intimidating and somewhat 'mean' eyes that made people suspicious of him at first glance.

Meanwhile, Halibel—known throughout the nation as the "Reinhardt of Kararagi," the undefeated strongest entity in all of Kararagi—was silently sweating bullets on the inside, even while a smirk and casual laughter remained plastered on his face for everyone else to see.

Outwardly, he appeared relaxed and nonchalant, but internally he was a nervous wreck.

Halibel wasn't some typical warrior relying only on raw physical power or swordsmanship.

He was a shinobi with highly refined instincts, a master of covert combat, and someone gifted with the rare ability of divination.

Because of those abilities, he instantly perceived the Witch's scent leaking from Subaru the moment he laid eyes on him.

And while the stench alone was concerning, it wasn't even the primary thing that triggered his unease.

The real reason his fur stood on end was the overwhelming, incomprehensible force hidden within Subaru's body.

His mysticism, his intuition, and every finely honed sense he possessed told him the same thing: Subaru was dangerous on a catastrophic level.

The pressure radiating from him felt suffocating—terrifying—like the Witch of Envy herself was looming right there before him in the flesh instead of sealed away.

His instincts screamed at him, warning him that even considering an attack would lead only to one possible outcome: his death.

And not only that—at worst, the entire city of Banan would be erased from existence as collateral damage. The stakes were that absurdly high.

Running away wasn't an option either.

He had a responsibility as one of Kararagi's strongest defenders to keep an eye on threats like this.

So, Halibel quickly made the smartest decision available: stick close to Subaru and find out exactly why such a potentially world-ending individual had come to Banan in the first place.

If there was even a tiny chance he could befriend him—gain his goodwill, calm his motives—then that was obviously the best path forward.

After all, why pick a fight with a monster when you might be able to talk them into being your friend or at least pacify them by helping with their needs?

Halibel wasn't some stubborn red-haired sword fanatic obsessed with dueling every strong opponent he saw.

He preferred survival and diplomacy over suicidal bravery.

"Hey, hey, hold up! I know I've got these naturally mean-looking eyes," Subaru complained with a dramatic wave of his hands, as if defending his honor in a court of law.

"But that doesn't give you the right to label me as some final-boss Otome game villainess just based on appearances! I'll have you know, both my girlfriend and even my parents said that my mean eyes make me look cute and cool at the same time!" Subaru proudly thumped his chest like he had just presented some irrefutable evidence of his charming looks.

Halibel blinked at him, completely caught off guard by the bizarrely specific claim.

For a second, he just stared with a blank expression.

Then, completely losing his composure, he burst into laughter—genuine, hearty laughter—even though he had absolutely zero idea what an "Otome villainess" was supposed to be.

It just sounded ridiculous enough to break his tense nerves.

"Alright, alright, I get it! My bad, buddy," Halibel finally responded while wiping a tear from his eye, still grinning.

"Also, I'll be tagging along with ya since I got nothin' better to do today. I'm pretty much free and bored outta my mind, you see!" he said with the confidence of someone proudly declaring their lack of employment.

Subaru silently stared at him for a second, already placing a mental label over Halibel like a name tag: Unemployed NEET wolf guy, who clearly had way too much free time to loiter around city halls and latch onto strangers.

After that amusing introduction, Halibel properly stated his name and announced that he intended to accompany Subaru all the way to the outskirts as his guide—or more like as a self-appointed comrade.

Subaru, meanwhile, came to his own conclusion inside his head: 'This guy probably just wants a free ride outside the city and is trying to mooch off me. Typical freeloader behavior.'

He nodded firmly to himself, believing he had solved the mystery of Halibel's intentions.

Still, Subaru didn't want to start unnecessary drama or get into a fight just because someone looked suspicious.

So he decided, fine, let the furry guy tag along.

It wasn't like Subaru cared that much anyway, and if this wolf dude became annoying, he could always deal with him later.

With that, the two of them casually walked off together, leaving behind a crowd of stunned spectators—people who were terrified a moment ago but now watched in disbelief as the strongest man in Kararagi just followed the mysterious newcomer like they were longtime friends going on a fun trip.

Together, they departed from the place, completely shifting the atmosphere around the entire building.

...

Once they finally arrived at the city's outskirts, the landscape noticeably shifted into a quieter, more spacious area.

The houses were scattered far apart from each other, as if each resident wanted to maintain their own little kingdom away from the noisy life inside Banan.

The rookie salesman nervously guided Subaru and Halibel, constantly glancing between Subaru's intense eyes and Halibel's intimidating presence.

He introduced one house after another, pointing out the features with a trembling voice and hoping he didn't accidentally offend the terrifying customer he was dealing with.

Eventually, Subaru's gaze settled on a fairly large three-story house.

It wasn't luxurious enough to be mistaken for a noble estate, but compared to the others, it stood proud and sturdy, surrounded by an open yard and enough space to do whatever weird projects Subaru came up with in the future.

It looked like the perfect base for someone planning to do… questionable science and magic experiments without alerting the neighbors.

"This house will cost you approximately three Royal Gold Coins," the salesman explained, trying to sound confident. He had already figured out Subaru was a foreigner from Lugunica, so he added all the information he could to make the sale go smoothly.

"That's around three hundred High Kararagi Shells… give or take," Subaru mumbled under his breath, doing a quick mental conversion with a surprisingly serious expression.

Honestly?

The price made him extremely happy inside.

He liked the house, liked the location, liked the fact that no one would constantly bother him, and more importantly—he actually could afford it.

Without wasting a single second, Subaru nodded decisively.

"This one. I want this house," he declared as if he had just chosen his forever battlefield.

In his mind, he couldn't help but let another thought slip in: 'It'll be nice when Rem comes here… she'll have her own room, and we can live together again.'

A slight smile tugged at his lips.

But that wasn't the end of his ambition.

'If everything goes according to my plan, I'll buy an even bigger mansion inside the city later. Something stylish, fancy, and absolutely loaded with everything a genius like me needs.'

He stared at the building again, and a wave of satisfaction washed over him.

This house wasn't gifted to him.

He didn't stumble into it by accident.

This was something he earned through his own effort, his own sweat, and his own stupid amount of risk-taking.

For the first time since arriving in this ridiculous fantasy world, Subaru genuinely felt like an independent adult with a solid foundation.

(A/N: Meanwhile Satella lurking in the shadow: completely speechless but silently staring with obsessive intensity)

Natsuki Subaru officially obtained his first personal home in another world.

From here onward, he would begin his journey once more—starting from zero, again… and hopefully this time he wouldn't die constantly.

(A/N: More like hope the world doesn't ends next tuesday just because he got too angry by some random goons)

To be continued...
