This time around, in between chants Tino focused on the demonic aura that seeped through the summoning circle.
Before, he had no idea it was there, suffusing into the atmosphere like a thin fog.
Now however, the aura he felt was palpable.
'This is it! It feels different from last time,' Tino thought while finishing the last of the chants.
From the summoning circle, a thin line formed which slowly opened to reveal a portal to the other side.
"It's here! We actually pulled it off!"
Angie was as happy as a clam.
Tino however was prepared for his next action.
From the portal came a figure much like the image in the book pertaining to the demon's appearance.
Just as sinister was the demon that appeared before the twins.
It simply stood and watched as they gawked at the completion of the summoning ritual.
"What now," Angie asked bewildered.
"This, I guess."
As if he had done so a thousand other times, Tino grabbed the confused demon's arms and went to bite it.
"Graah!"
"What the heck are you doing!"
Despite his best efforts, Tino did not even manage to break the demon's skin after biting as hard as he could.
'Why is it so tough? It was easier before and it doesn't seem to fear me at all,' Tino was feeling awful after his failed attempt.
The demon let out a series of angry growls but seemed unable to act against its summoners.
"Are you trying to get killed?"
"Oh, please. If it were the me before, I could kill hundreds of demons like this one," Tino spoke as if he still had the strength of a demon himself.
That was only during his nightmarish possession.
He must have hijacked a stronger demon during the session which made his first victim fear him.
Unfortunately for him though, he had awoken as the same child with no innate abilities or inherent strength.
'No! I can still make this work! There has to be something I did that can correlate to an immediate method of strength.'
Tino wracked his mind for anything.
There had to be something that happened for the possession to have occurred in the first place meaning he could recreate some method of either possession or demonized strength.
As his mind was racing, he noticed the summoning circle on the floor and something clicked.
'That's right! We probably only succeeded this time thanks to my keener sense of the demonic aura.'
The summoning circle was made from his blood tying the summoned demon to him in a way that transcended a natural bond.
When they first tried the summoning ritual, Tino likely forged the connection to a demon that allowed him to then possess said demon when he slept.
Now, the summoned demon likely still had a connection to him and was now waiting for a proper order.
This was not what Tino wanted.
He desired the ability of the demon itself not for it to do his bidding.
And so, with the little knowledge he had about summoning he did something outside the box.
'If I were to adjust the summoning ritual maybe I could somehow make it so that I absorb the summons' strength. It'll be like possessing them but with my body still intact.'
The demonic aura that silently spread from the circle was not just for show.
It seeped into the owner of the circle's body without the slightest hint of contamination.
This hidden feature combined with Tino's desperation led him to do something even Angie could not fathom.
Tino moved in a crazed fashion as he opened the cut on his hand and used the blood to write on the summoning circle.
He had no idea what the markings he was making meant, but the knowledge accrued during his time reading the books subconsciously helped him alter the circle to suit his desires.
All of a sudden, the demon started screeching in protest to what Tino was doing.
It too sensed something wrong with the situation as the summoning circle began shining brighter.
'This is similar to the transference circle in the book about transferring properties to other objects,' Angie sat back quietly and allowed her brother to work, 'But what is he planning on doing with it?'
Tino hastily scribbled as best he could from the would on his hand as his enlightened state progressed.
After setting up the transference markings, he then paused.
'There's something I'm missing. Something not in the books I've read,' the more he thought, the less confident he grew, 'No! If I haven't read it, then I'll just come up with it in my own!'
If only he was as studious as his sister then maybe he would figure something out.
While he could just ask her, he desperately wanted to carve his own path.
The demon seemed to be frightened enough to wish to return to it's realm which pushed Tino to come up with a solution.
'Fuck it. This is no time to be a coward. I'll utilize everything I can to become like that monster.'
He thought back to the sinister smile that plunged it's hands through his sister's stomach.
Sure they were together again, but the thought of something like that happening again drove him crazy.
He could play all he wanted and enjoy the comfort of his Mother, but deep down he craved that monstrous power.
"To face a monster, I'll gladly become a monster myself."
The demon understood his words due to the connection as a summon making it all the more inclined to escape.
However, Tino was ready to finalize his plan.
He tore his shirt off and drew markings on himself.
They looked exactly like the ones he scrawled on the summoning circle making what was to come next simple.
As the last step, Tino placed his bloody hand on the demon and waited for something to happen.
Soon, the markings on his chest glowed like the summoning circle.
They caused a burning sensation which told Tino it was working.
In the next moment, the demon was juiced like a fruit as its essence was sucked into Tino's body.
The process left the demon shriveled to the bone as it was not even capable of letting out a whine.
On Tino's side, he was physically enhanced by the demonic essence.
That was not the only change though.
His teeth grew sharper and his features more demonic.
With a nasty smile he laughed, "Haha! It worked, Angie! It actually worked!"
On the sidelines, Angie bore a look of awe mixed with concern.
The portal— still opened and spewing out the demonic aura— remained stable despite the death of the summon.
From the other side of the portal, a head surfaced, scaring the twins.
A two-horned, devilish human appeared which made for an interesting sight and from his mouth he spoke, "So these are the ones responsible."
