"Are you hiding something from me?"
Mary Douglas paused her hand that was sketching on the document, holding the pen, and slowly leaned back in her chair, leisurely observing everything happening in the room.
Lily Hemsworth's body stiffened, and the expression on her face froze the moment she heard the voice.
Queen Ylaya's expression wasn't much better either. "Why are you back?"
Beverly's face was dotted with beads of sweat. She released her grip on the doorframe and slowly walked into the room.
"I'm not feeling well, and Sister Arabella kindly let me rest. She went to the estate to pick fruit for Grandmother..."
Queen Ylaya looked at her, speaking in a halting manner, and pursed her lips.
"Grandmother, Mother, what were you just talking about?"
Beverly didn't dwell on her illness but looked at them both with a face full of confusion.
Lily Hemsworth wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes, took a deep breath, closed her eyes, as if making a big decision.
