I originally thought that hiding the fact that Steven and I were still alive would allow us to conceal our whereabouts and come to this poor and remote place.
I hoped that stubborn old man would reflect on what he had done wrong.
However, what happened later, and the old man's attitude, repeatedly disappointed us.
He didn't realize at all that our departure was due to his stubborn and oppressive attitude. Shouldn't he have felt some remorse after the plane crash?
Clearly, he didn't.
My mother-in-law silently compromised time and again, yet he kept pushing her further away each time.
She made concessions for Steven over and over again, but he repeatedly failed to appreciate them.
Now, with Joel and Arabella, his attitude is the same as it was towards her and Steven back then.
She truly couldn't understand why someone could be so stubborn.
Sometimes she even thought that her compromises and guilt towards him back then were really too foolish.
