Chapter 101 - Chapter 101: The Gospel Church, The God-Servants

10:30 AM, Waverly City District, St. John's Gospel Church.

A cool breeze blew through the stained-glass windows into the elegantly decorated church, as a figure flashed by and vanished.

Wade, who had flown all the way from the neighboring city, appeared on a crossbeam, taking in everything below.

A few calm-looking young monks were cleaning, and several elegantly dressed believers sat silently waiting in the pews; the scene was peaceful and serene.

'Where is Pastor Leif from the Matriarch's memories? He didn't skip work, did he?' He flew toward the back of the main church area.

It was extremely quiet there, with several small wooden confessionals standing about, from which low voices drifted out.

An elderly female voice spoke: "Pastor Fry, my son is very ill. The doctors say only palliative care is possible... I pray to the Lord every night, but, but..."

A gentle, low male voice immediately replied: "Margaret. The Lord has heard you; He is always here. Trials are meant to make our faith purer."

"I, I know the Lord is testing us, Pastor. But I'm almost at my breaking point..."

The sound of splashing water and low prayer syllables followed: "Do not fear, sister... In the name of the Lord, may this holy water grant you strength and peace. Take it, and take my prayers back with you."

"Thank you, Pastor! Thank you! The Lord will surely bless you!"

"Go now, child. The Lord be with you."

The sound of a door closing softly echoed, and the room fell silent.

On the crossbeam, Wade's mental power spread out, capturing Pastor Leif's fleeting thought: 'Margaret owns multiple properties. When we organize the charity fundraiser next week, I'll use her son as material for the sermon. Combined with the abilities shown by those Holy Sons, it will definitely persuade more new believers to donate money.'

'Aren't they Protestant? Why are they doing Catholic-style things?' Seeing someone else about to enter for a talk, Wade pointed downward with a cold gaze. 'I'm in a hurry; I have to force this old beast out.'

In his blood-flow sensing vision, the blood flow in Leif's kidneys, pelvic region, and bladder suddenly accelerated one after another.

After just a few dozen seconds, Leif, who was about to receive another believer, began to wiggle his legs restlessly. He spoke rapidly: "Dear brother, please excuse me for a moment. I apologize for my physical discomfort. I will return shortly to hear your heart. May the Lord bless you."

With that, he hurriedly pushed open the back door of the confessional and ran toward the side hall with messy steps, with Wade following closely in mid-air.

In the restroom, Leif lifted his black robe and relieved himself: "Ah—the lost lambs need hope. As for whether that hope is a miracle or holy water... who cares?"

Just as he was immersed in the intermittent, dripping flow, an abrupt voice sounded above him: "I care."

Leif looked up at the sound and found an incredibly ugly, burly man flying in the air. He immediately barked in a low voice, "This is a private area. Strange Supes are not welcome. Please leave... or I'll call the police!"

Wade smiled and wagged his finger, as invisible air currents pulled him into the air. "That bitch Eva Lake told me all about the filthy things you've done... Scream all you want; the more that come, the better. I'll kill every single one!"

Leif's body stiffened, his eyes twitching violently. He growled, "What nonsense are you talking about? Eva, Eve—I don't know any of them."

Wade's eyes glowed blue as he sneered, "Oh, really? How about this, then!"

A brief flash of blue light shot onto Leif's robe, and ice crystals instantly spread, enveloping his entire body.

"Help! Someone's attacking!" Leif struggled with his limbs in terror. Finding it futile, he asked with a trembling voice, "Who... who are you?!"

"I'm an explorer, satisfied?" Wade flew out of the restroom with him. "Take me to your hidden 'church'."

"I don't know what you're talking about! This is a sacred place!"

Bang!

Leif was suddenly slammed against the wall and dragged along, plaster decorations crumbling and falling.

Wade looked down at him, his pupils glowing blue. "You have three seconds. One, two..."

"Wait—I'll take you! The passage is in my office!" Fry screamed, begging for mercy with tears and snot streaming down his face. "Don't kill me! I'll do whatever you say!"

"The Holy Seed Project was provided by Vought. We had no choice. Those mothers and seeds..."

"Shut up! I don't have time for your idle chatter." Wade removed the ice crystals from him and held him in front. "Just lead the way. My patience... is very limited."

"Stop!" "What are you doing?" Several men in deacon robes stepped forward to block them.

Wherever Wade's gaze fell, those men's throats tightened, and they slumped down with purple faces.

Two burly young men in black robes with glowing white eyes rushed out from a corner of the corridor, roaring, "You freak! Let go of the Pastor right now! Or else..."

Boom—Bang bang!

An irresistible invisible force suddenly descended, instantly pressing the two to their knees until they passed out shortly after.

"If I kill them all, there won't be any evidence left!" Wade watched the monks rushing in and others attempting to flee, tapping his finger repeatedly.

Within a fifty-meter radius of him, everyone collapsed to their knees in a faint, unable to get up.

Guided by Leif, they successfully reached the Bishop's office and opened the stairwell leading underground... In the modern-looking underground tunnel, red indicator lights on the ceiling flickered, and alarms blared continuously.

Over a dozen guards with rifles hid around the corner, poking their guns out and firing continuously into the tunnel.

Pfft pfft pfft pfft—

An invisible barrier rose in front of Wade, and bullets fell to the ground before they could even get close. Then, the guards' gun barrels were instantly clogged with ice crystals, causing them to swell and explode.

Wuu—Wuu—Wuu—

Wade floated in mid-air. Figures flickered in his vision, most of them filled with eerie blue blood and surging energy fluctuations. "Ho—you've raised quite a few little brats here!"

The next second, the gunfire ceased, and attacks came from the front.

A boy in a white robe sprayed scorching flames from his hands; another young man with wings on his back whipped up a fire snake and charged through the air; a short-haired girl opened her mouth and fired a beam of white light.

"Want to raise Supes with unwavering faith? All for those so-called miracles again." Wade merely raised an eyelid, and blue light shot from his eyes repeatedly.

At the same time, the temperature in the tunnel plummeted, and countless long, sharp ice crystals condensed in the air.

Shiu! Shiu! Shiu! Shiu!

The ice crystals accelerated like a barrage, covering every attacker.

The flames were instantly extinguished by the extreme cold, leaving behind icy slush. The limbs of the speedsters were pierced by ice spears, pinning them in place. The girl who shot lasers was now gagged by an icicle, left only with wheezing gasps.

In a flash, the aggressive armed guards and Supe children in the tunnel were all sprawled on the ground.

"Time to record some substantial evidence," Wade said, scanning the crowded tunnel. He pulled a DSLR camera from his shoulder bag, turned on recording mode, and tossed it into the air.

Leif floated behind him, crying out hoarsely, "You'll regret this! Vought won't let you get away with it, and neither will The Seven! Leave now while you still can!"

Wade's figure flickered at the end of the tunnel. He pressed hard against the heavy alloy security door in front of him. "If I were afraid of them, I wouldn't have come looking for trouble with you!"

Creeeeak—Boom!!

A tooth-aching sound of twisting metal exploded as he crumpled the entire door like a piece of paper, twisting and tearing it into a giant metal pretzel.

Wade tossed it aside with a casual flick, and it hit the wall with a dull thud, revealing the scene behind the door.

A young monk in a white robe was kneeling in prayer; he glared and shouted sternly, "Heretic, how dare you trespass into the forbidden grounds!"

Wade didn't bother with him, shooting a freezing beam from his eyes as he prepared to fly past.

The white-robed youth suddenly lunged, his muscles bulging. Amidst a flash of white light, he forcibly shattered the ice crystals in his path, his eyes filled with fanaticism. "For the glory of the Lord!"

"Oh! Physical enhancement?" Wade raised an eyebrow and made a grasping motion toward the charging figure from a distance.

The monk's steps grew slower and slower. Under the dual influence of gravity and Blood Control, his blood instantly pooled in his legs, bringing his forward momentum to a dead stop.

He froze in place like a running statue, a look of fury on his face. "Blasphemer!"

"Go back and... practice some more with your Lord." Wade delivered a heavy chop to the side of his neck with his hand and, without looking back, stepped straight into the core area.
