Chapter 956 - Chapter 956 : Dad, I Tried My Best

The gift shop at Chu Tian Hospital had a wide range of items, from flowers and fruits to supplements and toys.

Ming Yuqian had chosen a set of toys for Little Jingshi, which turned out to be a big hit.

"Wow! It's Guardians of the Galaxy!" Little Jingshi exclaimed with delight as he saw the toy box. "And there's Groot! Both big Groot and baby Groot!"

Little Jingshi was thrilled. It was his first experience with having an uncle, and he felt incredibly lucky.

He couldn't help but think how nice it would have been to have met his uncle sooner, so he wouldn't have had to negotiate with his father for a balance bike.

"Thank you, Uncle!" Little Jingshi beamed, "Can I open it now?"

"Of course, it's yours now," Ming Yuqian said with a smile.

Little Jingshi climbed back onto Ming Yutong's bed and began to open the toy box. Ming Yuqian glanced at the time and asked, "Have you had dinner yet?"

"No, I came straight here after school," Little Jingshi replied.

"I'll order dinner for you. What would you like?" Ming Yuqian asked, pulling out his phone.

Ming Yutong, still unable to join them for the meal, didn't mind.

"I want fried chicken," Little Jingshi said immediately.

Ming Yuqian looked at Ming Yutong, seeking her approval.

"Tong Tong, it's been a while since I've had fried chicken too. Can you let me have some?" Little Jingshi cleverly appealed to Ming Yutong.

Ming Yutong considered it for a moment before reluctantly agreeing, "Alright, but after today, you can't have fried chicken again for at least a month. No sneaking off to the school cafeteria either. You need to eat more vegetables and fruits for nutrition. Meat is fine, but it should be balanced."

"Okay, I'll listen to you, Tong Tong," Little Jingshi agreed cheerfully.

Ming Yutong couldn't help but smile, feeling a new sense of what it meant to be a mother.

She was now genuinely concerned about her child's health and felt the need to set rules, even if they weren't always popular.

Little Jingshi, excited and grateful, happily agreed to follow her advice. He even promised to send photos of his lunch to prove he was sticking to his healthy eating.

"I believe you," Ming Yutong said with a smile, touched by Little Jingshi's sweetness.

Ming Yuqian ordered the fried chicken.

Noticing that Fu Yinxiu was still lingering, Ming Yutong didn't insist that he leave. Despite past grievances, she recognized that Fu Yinxiu had allowed her to see Little Jingshi even when he could have prevented it entirely.

This time, she chose to let him stay, accepting that some lines had to be crossed for the sake of their son.

Fu Yinxiu, despite his own turmoil, was grateful for this opportunity to be near his son and was somewhat resigned to the new boundaries set by Ming Yutong.

In the presence of Little Jingshi, Fu Yinxiu was able to maintain a semblance of civility, though his demeanor remained distant.

Ming Yutong chose not to make things difficult for Fu Yinxiu in front of their son, ensuring a more peaceful interaction.

Ming Yuqian, understanding the unspoken agreement, ordered additional food items.

Besides the fried chicken, he ordered pizza, pasta, and baked potato wedges.

After the meal, Little Jingshi wanted to stay at the hospital, but he still had homework to complete. Ming Yutong didn't want him to stay in the hospital, as it was not a healthy environment, and encouraged him to go home and finish his work.

"But…" Little Jingshi clung to Ming Yutong's arm, reluctant to let go. "We've only just met today. I don't want to leave."

Ming Yutong gently reassured him, "Will you not come to see me tomorrow?"

"Of course, I'll come every day," Little Jingshi promised quickly. "Maybe I can do my homework here and go home afterward."

Considering their recent reunion, Ming Yutong couldn't bear to part with Little Jingshi so soon and agreed to let him stay.

Since there was no desk in the hospital room, Ming Yuqian provided a small table that Ming Yutong had used for eating.

It wasn't the most comfortable setup for doing homework, but it worked for now.

"I'll buy a proper desk for you tomorrow so you can do your homework comfortably here," Ming Yuqian said.

"Thank you, Uncle," Little Jingshi said with a sweet smile.

As Little Jingshi worked diligently on his homework, he had to eventually leave to get enough rest. Fu Yinxiu did not accompany him but arranged for Alpha Guard 3 and Alpha Guard 4 to take him to the hospital parking lot.

"Dad, I tried my best," Little Jingshi said.

He knew that without his presence, Fu Yinxiu would still be outside the hospital.

"I understand. I'll buy you the balance bike once Tong Tong is discharged," Fu Yinxiu acknowledged, aware of Little Jingshi's subtle hints.
