Chapter 744 - Chapter 741 Even God Cannot Save Me

"Cough, cough, cough..." In the early morning, weak coughing echoed from Parkin's room on the third floor of the Drunken Night.

Parkin knelt on the floor, facing the window in prayer, with two knights kneeling behind him.

"O Divine Lord, please save me," Parkin prayed devoutly.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

His prayers were frequently interrupted by weak coughs. After a while, Parkin weakly crawled back into bed and lay down.

This was already the third day Parkin had knelt before the window to pray, but it seemed the Divine Lord had not favored him this time; his condition was only getting worse.

"I heard Dole and the others saved several more people with severe colds and fevers!"

"Really? The city lord's hospital is truly miraculous."

At this moment, two waiters passing by Parkin's room were discussing in amazement.

"Severe cold? Fever? Hospital?" Parkin, lying in bed, overheard the conversation outside.

"Bishop Parkin isn't preparing to go meet the Divine Lord, is he?" The knights whispered among themselves nearby.

"Y-you... go and find out where this hospital is for me," Parkin said, raising a weak hand.

"Yes," The two replied in unison.

The knights then walked out. They had thought the bishop overheard their conversation and was going to punish them.

Step, step, step...

The two knights walked to the guest room front desk and waved to the beast-eared girl sitting there.

"Hello, how may I help you?" The beast-eared girl asked softly with a smile.

"We just heard something about a hospital? Saving people with severe colds? Do you have powerful witch doctors here?" One knight asked, bringing up the conversation they had just overheard.

"We don't have any witch doctors here. Our doctors are much more incredible than witch doctors. You must be from out of town. The city lord's hospital is truly amazing..." The beast-eared girl eagerly poured out the stories of Lucas saving a dying soldier previously and the recent cases of the hospital curing severe colds to the two knights.

Naturally, after hearing this, the two knights looked entirely unconvinced, their faces practically screaming, "You're full of it."

"If you don't believe me, go see for yourselves." The beast-eared girl could see the doubt plastered on the knights' faces. She encountered several skeptical guests like them every single day.

Seeing the beast-eared girl's disdainful look, the two knights felt it inappropriate to ask anything else. They nodded and walked back to their room.

"Cough, cough, cough..."

Parkin's coughing continued to echo from the room. The knights exchanged glances at the door and nodded; they planned to persuade Parkin to visit that supposedly miraculous hospital.

Creak... The door was pushed open.

"How is it?" Parkin looked at the two knights.

"It's like this..." The knights repeated what the beast-eared girl had just told them to Parkin.

"That miraculous? More powerful than the Divine Lord?" Parkin also looked at the knights with deep suspicion, feeling like they were playing a trick on him.

"Lord Bishop, should we go and give it a try?" The two knights urged.

Parkin thought about it and felt the knights made sense. He was also terrified of dying. He waved his hand helplessly and said, "Alright then."

Step, step, step...

One knight hoisted Parkin onto his back and headed downstairs, asking for directions as they made their way toward the hospital.

Parkin was coughing uncontrollably. He had prayed to the Divine Lord for three days, yet his illness hadn't improved at all.

Along the way, Parkin was still holding a grudge about the beastkin drinking his divine medicine a few days ago. Otherwise, he would have recovered long ago and wouldn't have to go to this so-called hospital.

Parkin and the two knights hurriedly arrived at the hospital entrance, only to see a long queue forming outside.

Seeing such a long line, the knight said in an annoyed tone, "What are all these people doing at the entrance? Why don't they just go right in?"

After saying that, he carried Parkin on his back and cut in line to walk inside.

"Hey, why are you cutting in line?"

"Yeah, exactly! Go line up at the back."

"How can you have no manners! Can't you read those giant words?"

The knights were scolded by the crowd in line. Both of their faces flushed red from their necks to their ears, and they sheepishly walked to the back to line up.

After twenty minutes, it was finally the trio's turn.

The three walked into the hospital. Upon entering, they saw a counter with two girls looking at them. One of the girls was Jane, who had previously treated Max. Both of them were displaying warm smiles...

"May I ask which of you three is ill?" Jane asked routinely.

"It's our Bishop Parkin. He hasn't stopped coughing, and his body is burning hot..." The knight beside him assumed this little girl was the witch doctor and blurted out all of Parkin's symptoms at once.

"Then you just need to register his ID card, and he can see the doctor." Jane picked up a notebook, looking down as she prepared to register them.

"ID card?" Parkin and the two knights asked in unison, their faces blank.

Jane nodded, realizing they weren't commoners from Sedona City. She muttered in her heart: Then there won't be any exemptions or discounts.

She looked up and said to the three of them, "He probably has a cold." Jane tore off the carbon copy of the second page where she had just recorded his symptoms.

Handing it to the knight carrying Parkin, she said softly, "Follow the signs on the wall straight ahead. When you see a room with the word 'Clinic' written on it, just go inside."

The knight took the paper, feeling a bit embarrassed, and nodded before walking away quickly. He thought to himself that he had mistakenly assumed she was the witch doctor and had spilled everything to her.

Soon, the three arrived at the room marked "Clinic". They saw the benches at the door were full of people who were also coughing continuously; one glance was enough to tell they were sick.

The three had learned their lesson this time. They didn't barge in like they had at the front door. Instead, they noticed four words written at the entrance: "Consultations by Number Order."

Parkin looked down at the slip of paper in his hand again. It contained a description of his symptoms, and below that was a large, bizarre symbol. After asking a person sitting on the bench, they learned that this meant he was the seventh person scheduled to go in for a consultation.

Just then, a young man walked out of the room distributing masks. When he handed one to Parkin, he said softly, "Please wear this mask so you don't pass your illness to the two gentlemen beside you."

"Huh?" Parkin froze for a good while before reaching out to take this object he had never seen before.

Seeing others wearing their masks, he clumsily put his on, imitating them.

Time passed. Twenty minutes later, a voice called out from the clinic, "Next, Mr. Parkin."
