A black void, once more.
The Demon remained shackled, his eyes opening to see the sea below him, binds still present, though now only around his arms and legs rather than his whole body. He was confused at first, until he began to see the light again. And again. And again. Lights that flicker within the darkness, forms molded by it and circling around him, watching, judging. One light in specific catches his eyes immediately, slowly approaching him as his wings began to grow out, as his mouth and eyes housed the source of light. "So... you've changed a bit..." A small tease, but one with truth. Zazel was getting worried, both in being in such a presence of an angel again, and in such a new form that is wrecking havoc in the outside world. He'd try to struggle out of his binds, yet the Angel was quick to make a hand and palm at his head, keeping him still. "Calm yourself. You will be freed, that I can assure you. However... I need to know what you truly are."
"There's a literal COPY of Lucifer running about that's using a Demon's Contract for his personal game, do you HAVE to do this now??" Zazel retorted, as the lights shined brighter alongside his words, a detail he was able to catch once he struggled to handle the shine.
Zadkiel immediately recognized this devotion, no visible change in his face, yet he made sure to raise up Zazel's head to get a better look. One who was devoted, demanding to protect, demanding to save. As the Demon gazed into the Angel's eyes, he was able to see familiar faces play through them. His current life in that moment going through his deeds: Avenging the souls of the fallen, bringing back those from near death to have as his ally, throwing himself in harms way to act as a tribute or to provide aid. Even saving the life of Adel before a salt that would lash at him and murdered him on the spot. Even now, when facing Mawkin, he tries to keep himself from harm's way and guide him to a better path, only lost to him once he was struck down by the 'Sun.' Deeds that, objectively, were good.
Deeds that a Demon would never do, less it is for one's personal gain.
"You're more of an Angel than I thought... And to think you wished to remain in Hell..." Zadkiel's words were like iron, one that Zazel was stunted, yet he continued. "Now it's more clear to me why he wishes to help you. Of course, this could be a case where you are trying to tempt him, but the evidence is more than enough. I still don't like you, for the record."
"Likewise."
"...but I must admit fault. Earlier on, I'd admit that such demons like yourself have no proper motivation beyond using Humans for your gain. It's why I despised such contracts forged from our shared enemy for acting as the loophole, since they chose themselves to be aligned with the damned. That doesn't seem to be the case with you, however. You chose, instead, to offer yourself when able. Life or Death, you chose to give your life for the sake of others, for the sake of Humanity. Yet above all else, you still chose to use such infernal magic. Magic bound by the Devil's markings. Why?"
Zazel gave himself pause as he looked down, seeing his mothers again, seeing what Hell is, and speaking up properly. "I want to be better. I want to fix it. Every time I step out, people saw me as nothing more than a Monster. Just because I have horns and a tail doesn't mean I'm out to get them. If anything, they were getting each other. I was lost, in both on why we have to hate each other and why this 'God' prefers humans over us. Spending so much time here... it made me learn how much Humanity really IS. There's so much to be a Human, so many things, so many places, so many events. In all of them, they eventually unite and work together. In all of them, even when one or two were trying to kill everything, they still fight on. I guess... what I'm trying to say is-"
"You were ultimately jealous of humans, and you wanted to learn about them so you can pass such wisdom to your kind. To let them BE human." As Zadkiel reveal's his motive, Zazel's body began to morph, quickly being freed from his binds as his limbs grew longer and thin, almost like pointed stilts than proper arms and legs. The Sigils began to leave his body, a sign on how he was able to survive while still being himself against the Sun, slowly fracturing into fingers for those stilts, as well as crystaline wings and a halo around and on him. Red silk flowed quickly around his body, still carrying the steel studs his jacket had, as a white cloak for an undershirt tethered in twain. His eyes and mouth began to sizzle, then catch ablaze, but no harm was on him. Rather, it felt like his eyes and mouth became the fire, as it engulfs around his head, leaving it as a flaming ball of mass, with black holes to differentiate. He was more polygonal than human, an unrecognizable shape in comparison to his self. "Fine then. Act as our substitute Angel. If you show unto us that you are willing to save such lives, then you can serve under God proper. We do not ask for much. We do not ask for complications."
"Harvard is alone, now. As a new Angel in our ranks, you are to ensure he isn't alone anymore."
Zazel reached his hand out to try and grab such a light, but was immediately casted to the real world again, the kingdom of Kabanaska in ruins, as no spectators were around to see his new self. A Name was branded in his mind to let him know this new form, this new state that he holds responsible for both sides.
Angelo.
