Brandon didn't say anything for some time, looking at Evangeline as if she were some kind of beautiful ghost that he couldn't believe existed until now.
"You are alive," Brandon said, his pupils dilating when he realized how off it sounded, and he cleared his throat.
He opened his mouth to clear the misunderstanding when she beat him to it.
"Much to your girlfriend's dismay, no?" Evangeline asked, a weird emotion swirling in her eyes as she looked at the man up and down.
Brandon coughed awkwardly.
"How have you been?" He asked.
"Surviving," she said.
The man pressed his lips into a thin line. Evangeline was like his best friend before she became his girlfriend, and he really wanted to ask her how she was doing, but she wasn't making it easy.
Only he knew how sad he was when he heard of her demise.
"Can I take you out for a coffee, and we can catch up there? It's been so long," Brandon asked, a bit of hope evident in his eyes.
