Chapter 539 - Chapter 537: An Old Acquaintance

Chapter 537: An Old Acquaintance

After hiding inside the training space, Qi Han felt more than a little relieved.

Although Ru Yi had warned him in advance, he had been slow to react. That brief moment of hesitation had allowed the Evil Eye Tyrant to catch up with him.

Fortunately, the creature had been overly confident. Instead of attacking immediately, it had paused to ask whether Qi Han was the one who had killed its child. That hesitation gave Qi Han the opportunity to enter the training space.

"Ru Yi, is that guy still outside?" Qi Han couldn't help asking.

The corners of Ru Yi's mouth twitched slightly. She waved a hand, and a light screen appeared, displaying the scene outside.

Looking at the frenzied Evil Eye Tyrant in the image, Qi Han couldn't help but draw in a sharp breath.

. . .

During its long and lonely lifespan, this was the first time it had ever been so enraged.

This hundred-thousand-year Dark Evil Eye Tyrant was the supreme powerhouse among the dark-attribute branch of the Evil Eye race. Yet its most beloved youngest son had merely gone to play in the region inhabited by ten-thousand-year spirit beasts, only for a fragment of its spiritual power to return.

That remnant of spiritual power was naturally insufficient to revive the young Evil Eye.

It only had enough time to tell An Ji—the Evil Eye Tyrant who was its father—who had killed it before dispersing completely and dying right before his eyes.

A human spirit master.

A mere human spirit master who had only just reached six rings.

An Ji set out almost immediately and quickly arrived at the scene. There, not far from his son's corpse, he discovered Qi Han.

Consumed by rage, An Ji did not strike right away.

He wanted Qi Han to suffer a fate worse than death, to comfort the soul of his deceased son.

Yet before he could act, the insignificant six-ring human vanished right before his eyes.

Even now, the faint smile Qi Han had worn before disappearing remained burned into An Ji's mind.

Damn human! How dare he provoke this king!

At the thought, An Ji's spiritual power exploded outward in all directions. The nearly tangible mental pressure was so overwhelming that every spirit beast nearby trembled in silence.

Unable to find Qi Han, An Ji grew even more furious.

In the end, he could only vent his rage by relentlessly destroying everything around him, hoping to uncover the place where Qi Han was hiding.

How could that insignificant insect escape my Mental Domain?

The question echoed endlessly in his mind.

Unfortunately for him, he was destined never to learn the answer.

. . .

Watching the hundred-thousand-year Evil Eye Tyrant wreak havoc, even casually slaughtering innocent ten-thousand-year spirit beasts to vent its anger, Qi Han bared his teeth.

Wow. What a temper...

After obtaining his sixth spirit ring, Qi Han's spirit power had reached Level 61. The remaining one level of spirit power from an earlier quest reward then took effect, bringing him to Level 62.

Originally, he had thought that becoming a Spirit Emperor meant his strength was finally respectable, but after witnessing the terrifying might of a hundred-thousand-year spirit beast, Qi Han suddenly felt like nothing more than a rookie.

This was the first time he had ever faced a being of that level.

He had to admit that the aura and pressure of a hundred-thousand-year spirit beast were on an entirely different level from those of ten-thousand-year spirit beasts.

In truth, Qi Han still possessed a trump card.

If he used it, killing this hundred-thousand-year spirit beast would be easy.

It was the small knife that had been given to him by the mysterious god who chose him as a successor.

According to Ru Yi, that knife could unleash a single attack whose power was unrivaled beneath the level of a god.

Destroying a hundred-thousand-year spirit beast would be effortless.

But there was no need.

Qi Han didn't need the Evil Eye Tyrant's hundred-thousand-year spirit ring. Even if he could obtain the guaranteed hundred-thousand-year head spirit bone that an Evil Eye Tyrant would drop, he would still come out at a loss in this exchange.

That creature couldn't stay here forever.

Sooner or later, it would leave.

And when it did, Qi Han could simply go back outside.

Once he figured that out, he immediately relaxed.

His training in cooking Zilong Sheds His Armor was still unfinished.

This seemed like a perfect opportunity to continue practicing.

Who knew, maybe by the time that fellow finally left, he would have already mastered the dish.

With that thought, Qi Han stopped paying attention to what was happening outside and buried himself once again in training.

"Meow?"

Watching Qi Han train diligently, Pururu tilted her head. She then simply sat down beside Ru Yi and rubbed against her.

Looks like this kitty will be staying here for quite a while too.

"I'll send you to the Little World," Ru Yi said softly as she gently stroked Pururu's head.

"Meow~"

Great idea! This kitty wants to go play with Zhui Yun!

. . .

Days passed one after another.

Inside the training space, Qi Han had trained for nearly two years, while only three days had passed in the outside world.

Originally, he had estimated that mastering Zilong Sheds His Armor would take more than ten days, but that estimate assumed he would only train four to six hours a day. Now that he was staying in the training space around the clock, it naturally took far less time.

After three days, Qi Han finally mastered Zilong Sheds His Armor completely.

He did not rush to unlock a new 4 Star recipe.

After all, things were not entirely safe yet.

Unlocking a 4 Star recipe would require entering a new Food Realm, and it would be better to wait until everything was settled and he had returned to the Douluo Continent.

Outside, after causing havoc for three days, the Evil Eye Tyrant finally gave up its search and left the area.

During those three days, its figure had disappeared from the screen several times. However, thanks to Ru Yi's reminders, Qi Han knew that it had merely pretended to leave while keeping its spiritual power spread across the region, allowing it to return instantly at any moment.

This time, though, it had truly departed.

Carefully stepping out of the training space, Qi Han first confirmed that nothing was wrong. Only then did he finally relax and speed away toward the city he had previously chosen—Cangzhou City.

Buy the spirit tools and get out of here.

He did not want to stay in this cursed place for a second longer.

The journey out went smoothly.

Thanks to the Evil Eye Tyrant's rampage, all the nearby spirit beasts had fled. Qi Han encountered no obstacles along the way, and no suicidal spirit beasts suddenly charged out to attack him.

Before long, he had passed through the territories of ten-thousand-year and thousand-year spirit beasts and was approaching the outer region of the Evildemon Forest.

At that moment, a faint whistling sound came from behind him.

"Hm?"

Qi Han spun around sharply.

He discovered a mass of white slime roughly the size of a human head flying toward him.

The instant he saw it, the blob suddenly exploded outward, transforming into a giant web over ten meters in diameter that descended toward him.

Looking through the gaps in the web, Qi Han finally saw the creature that had fired it.

It was a ten-thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider missing one of its spider spears.

An old acquaintance.

A strange expression appeared on Qi Han's face.

The next moment, aided by Pururu's ability, he instantly passed through the spider web and appeared directly in front of the Man Faced Demon Spider.

"Man Faced Demon Spider, I've missed you so much."

He grinned.

His hands, however, moved without the slightest hesitation.

All six spirit rings lit up simultaneously.

A tremendously powerful golden-red blade-light erupted and slashed toward the Man Faced Demon Spider.

The last time he had used the Six-Skill Fusion, he had passed out before seeing the results.

This was the perfect chance to test it again.

As the strike was unleashed, Qi Han's spirit power consumption was manageable, but his spiritual power instantly dropped by fifty to sixty percent. His face paled slightly before quickly returning to normal.

The Man Faced Demon Spider, on the other hand, was doomed.

Qi Han's sudden passage through the web had completely caught it off guard.

By the time it tried to flee, the terrifying suppressive effect of the sixth spirit skill had already descended upon it.

In an instant, it became incapable of even moving.

All it could do was helplessly watched as the blade-light cut straight through its body.

The Man Faced Demon Spider—Dead.
