A sad smile appeared on Ding Feng's face as he looked directly at Yang Lingyun.
"But if one day you can look at me and not see me as that terrible person anymore…Then I think I could finally make peace with myself."
Neither man moved and neither spoke.
Years of resentment, guilt, disappointment, and regret could not be resolved in a single conversation. Both of them knew that. Eventually, Yang Lingyun let out a slow breath. His expression remained reserved, though some of the sharpness in his eyes had finally eased.
Then he said something Ding Feng never expected to hear.
"I'm sorry too."
Ding Feng blinked in surprise. "What?"
Yang Lingyun glanced away briefly before adding, "For beating you up like that in the club that night."
Before that incident Yang Lingyun and Ding Feng had never gotten into a serious fight ever.
For a moment, Ding Feng simply stared at him. Then, unexpectedly, he laughed. "Why are you bringing that up now?"
Yang Lingyun remained silent.
