Chapter 193 - False Accusations

The warehouse loomed behind us like a bad memory as Matt ushered me into the back seat of a nondescript black SUV. My wedding dress now hung in tatters around my legs, smeared with dust and grime from the warehouse floor. The rope burns on my wrists throbbed with every movement, and I hated every second I spent away from that courtroom. I climbed in without a word, arms crossed tightly over my chest, refusing to look at him.

Matt slid into the driver's seat, his jaw clenched so hard I could see the muscle ticking. He started the engine, the low rumble vibrating through the seats. "Liv, just… trust me on this. Staying away for a bit would've been smarter."

"Drive," I snapped, my voice hoarse from shouting earlier. Tears had dried on my cheeks, leaving salty tracks that pulled at my skin. I didn't want smart. I wanted my wedding. "Take me back right now, Matt."
