Chapter 203 - Trial of the Gods, Part 3

"Then, shall we try again?"

We turned to face the Red Dragon at Principal Uther's voice.

"W-Wait a moment, please! Adding challengers after the Trial of the Gods has already begun is a violation of the rules!" (Mariel)

Mariel-san hurriedly stepped in to stop us.

Come to think of it, the Trial of the Gods had already started.

Adding more people afterward wasn't allowed…was it?

"Don't be so uptight. To begin with, the summoning of this Red Dragon itself is an irregular exception. You can allow this much." (Eri)

Demon Lord Eri snapped back flatly.

"B-But…" (Mariel)

Angels are strict about rules.

Mother and Rita-san were the same.

Eri is lenient.

Maybe that's because she's a Fallen Angel.

"Hey, Red Dragon of the End? You're not some petty Divine Beast with such a small mind, right?" (Eri)

Eri gave a provocative smile.

——Do as you like.

I heard one of the seven heads mutter in response.

(That's the first time I've heard the Red Dragon speak…) (Eugene)

Including last time, the Red Dragon had never reacted to our voices.

It probably saw us as no more than pebbles by the roadside.

But the current lineup was different…

"[Grand Magic Barrier]!!" (Sumire)

At that moment, Sumire's voice rang out.

A barrier of light wrapped around all the challengers present.

"Thanks, Sumire!" (Eugene)

"Yep! Call me if you need more mana!" (Sumire)

I thanked Sumire.

"Doryaa!!"

A red flash slammed into the Divine Beast.

It was Rosalie-san.

"Oh my, I can't afford to fall behind."

Murmuring that, Eri turned into a black gale.

She closed in on the Red Dragon at a speed too fast to follow with the eye.

"Third move, huh. I'm late."

Golden lightning poured down from directly above the Red Dragon.

It was Principal Uther's magic. Apparently he moved with Teleport.

(S-So fast!) (Eugene)

The three of them had already begun their assault in the blink of an eye.

"Let's go, Eugene!" (Claude)

"Yeah!" (Eugene)

I ran toward the Red Dragon together with Claude.

Before us, red, black, and golden explosions were going off one after another like fireworks.

(Everyone's way too energetic!) (Eugene)

Leaving aside Rosalie-san, even Principal Uther, who had retired from the frontlines, and Eri, whose seal had only just been released, were rampaging. There was no way Claude and I could just stand there gawking.

"[Heaven Dragon Line]!!!" (Claude)

Claude hurled the Dragon God's Spear straight toward the Red Dragon's heart.

Gwooon!!!

With a violent gust, the Dragon God's Spear tore up the ground as it reached the Red Dragon.

——Gyaaaaah!!

One of the seven heads was pierced straight through by the Dragon God's Spear as if to shield its heart.

(Nicely done, Claude!) (Eugene)

Using Sky Walk, I closed the distance to the Red Dragon.

"Twin Heavenly Resonance Style:[Fenrir]." (Eugene)

I drove my Black Katana into one of the Red Dragon's heads.

——Gyaaaaah!!

A scream rang out.

Then I used Sky Walk to pull away from the Red Dragon.

The mana I received from the Dungeon Master was exhausted.

"Ahahahahaha!"

A red explosion erupted.

Explosive flames surged up, gouging the earth and scorching the heavens.

She was unleashing spells of outrageous power in rapid succession.

Just how much mana does Rosalie-san have?

"Inversion Magic: [Thousand Black Blades]." (Eri)

Black blades rained down on the Red Dragon like a downpour.

They sliced through the Red Dragon's hard scales.

Anemoi's magic couldn't even scratch it.

"[Thunderbolt Gun]." (Uther)

At some point, Principal Uther was holding a magic tool I'd never seen before.

That oddly shaped device seemed to be capable of firing lightning.

(With this…) (Eugene)

Our attacks were actually getting through to the Red Dragon.

We might be able to overcome the Trial of the Gods.

That's what I was thinking.

——Up until fifteen minutes later.

"Damn it! What the hell is going on!" (Claude)

Claude spat out in frustration.

I felt exactly the same.

The Red Dragon before us was uninjured.

No matter what wounds we inflicted, they regenerated immediately.

(So it's not that easy, huh.) (Eugene)

The world-destroying Red Dragon of the End still seemed to have plenty of strength to spare.
