They seriously considered just killing the two scouts rather than just beating them up. However, they were unclear about their goals for now, and they did not know whether they were deserving of death (yet).
The power behind them might also have ways to figure out if they died, or even advanced methods that could allow them to see the last moment of death. These were unlikely, but what if?
So, they just left them there. If their group was planning on causing trouble, they would do so regardless of whether they beat up the scouts in the first place.
Garan sent word to Valhalla that they had arrived. Lords generally wouldn't stare at their population list. For big territories like cities, they practically never did. Valhalla was busy and was unable to meet with them, while Virion was elsewhere, so they sent a representative first.
Garan told them about what they had encountered and that they hoped their rest would not be disrupted. They will go to visit the Lord the next morning.
