"Won't this cause the survivors to become suspicious?" Berryblue asked.
"Ohohohoho!" Frieza let out a series of strange laughs, his voice sharp and piercing. "Can't we just say they were unfortunately struck by a massive meteorite?"
His laughter echoed through the empty Main Control Room, carrying a playful and cruel cat-and-mouse tone.
As they were speaking...
"Beep—"
The hatch opened automatically, and a burly figure walked in from outside.
Dodoria, another of Frieza's close confidants.
He had pink skin, a bloated body, and a signature sinister grin on his face.
He first bowed to Frieza, lowering his head respectfully.
"Is there something, Dodoria?" Frieza asked with narrowed eyes, his fingers lightly tapping the armrest of his Hoverpod.
"Lord Frieza, a spaceship just left Planet Vegeta. According to our investigation, it's Prince Vegeta and several Combatants—a total of eight people on board!" Dodoria reported hurriedly, his voice gruff. "One of them is even Vegeta's teacher, Rez! He is known as a super-genius warrior!"
"Oh? Rez? Eight people?" Frieza's eyes narrowed again, his expression souring as the smile on his lips faded slightly. "A spherical spaceship just left a few days ago with a Saiyan infant whose battle power was only 2, and now more people are leaving without permission!"
His tone carried clear dissatisfaction.
The Saiyans, those lowly monkeys, actually dared to pull little stunts right under his nose.
"Lord Frieza, should we shoot them down?" Dodoria asked for instructions, a bloodthirsty glint flashing in his eyes.
"Besides Vegeta and Rez, who else is there?" Frieza asked, his fingers ceasing their tapping.
"There's also Raditz, Nappa, Carnegie, Kuri, Baru, and a female Saiyan named Linoshi!" Dodoria listed them one by one, clearly stating each name.
"Berryblue, go prepare eight cards and write their names on them." Frieza suddenly became interested, a strange smile reappearing on his face.
"Yes, sir!" Berryblue looked at Frieza with suspicion, but nevertheless turned around immediately to find cards to write the names on.
Before long, he returned with eight exquisite cards, each with a name written in neat handwriting.
Berryblue handed the eight cards to Frieza with both hands, bowing his head respectfully.
Frieza took the cards, looking through them one by one, the smile on his lips deepening.
Rez, Vegeta, Nappa, Raditz, Carnegie, Kuri, Baru, Linoshi.
Eight names, eight lives.
Then, he skillfully shuffled the cards in his hands like a deck of playing cards.
The cards fluttered between his fingers, making a slight rustling sound.
"Snap!"
Frieza casually tossed the cards into the air.
The eight cards scattered in the air, fluttering and slowly drifting down.
"Swish, swish, swish!"
The next moment, Frieza raised his right hand, and three dazzling beams of light flashed from his fingertips, shooting out instantly.
The three beams accurately hit three of the cards, blasting them into dust mid-air.
The paper fragments fell like snowflakes, fluttering all over the floor.
The remaining five cards continued to fall, eventually drifting onto the floor of the spaceship and lying there quietly.
Berryblue and Dodoria stood to the side, looking at Frieza in confusion, unable to understand what he was trying to do.
"Dodoria, kill everyone whose name is on those five cards!" Frieza ordered.
Dodoria reacted instantly, hurrying forward to pick up the cards and examine them carefully one by one.
His gaze swept over the names on the cards as he muttered to himself.
"Who are they, Mr. Dodoria?" Berryblue leaned in curiously, craning his neck to see for himself.
"Rez, Carnegie, Kuri, Baru, and Linoshi." Dodoria said their names one by one, showing the cards to Berryblue.
"Ohohohoho!" Frieza let out another series of strange laughs, his laughter echoing in the Main Control Room. "It seems that little monkey Vegeta is among the three lucky ones!"
His eyes flashed with playfulness, as if this were all just an interesting game.
"Lord Frieza, why don't we also take care of Vegeta while we're at it..." Dodoria didn't finish his sentence, but his meaning was clear.
To emphasize, he made a throat-slitting gesture, a cruel look flashing in his eyes.
"That won't be necessary." Frieza waved his hand, a bright smile appearing on his face. "Since he's one of the chosen lucky ones, let's let him live for now."
Dodoria said no more, bowed once again, and strode out of the Main Control Room.
Before long, a small spaceship detached from Frieza's Mothership. Bright flames erupted from its rear as it adjusted its course and quietly pursued Rez and the others' spaceship.
The ship was pitch black, making it nearly undetectable in the starry sky. Like a ghost, it slipped silently into the vast sea of stars.
...
Rez's spaceship.
Seeing that Frieza had no intention of launching a sneak attack on the spaceship, Rez's heart eased slightly.
He took one last look at the massive ship receding outside the window and turned to look at Linoshi.
Linoshi was sitting on the small bed, her head lowered, silent.
She sat there quietly, like a painting, surreal in her beauty.
"Do you want to go for a walk?" Rez turned to ask Linoshi, who was sitting on the small bed.
"Me? I... I won't go..." Linoshi shook her head, her blue eyes downcast, not daring to look at him.
"Are you tired? If you're tired, lie down on the bed for a while." Rez smiled gently and took a few steps closer.
"I'm not tired..." Linoshi waved her hand slightly, though her fingers tightened on the hem of her Battle Suit.
As they were talking...
The spaceship suddenly underwent a violent jolt.
"Boom—"
Rez lost his footing again, his balance failing as he tumbled directly toward Linoshi.
"Thud!"
This time, Rez pinned Linoshi onto the bed.
The narrow bed was just large enough for two people. At this moment, Rez was pressed entirely against her, their bodies flush against each other.
He could even feel her rapid heartbeat through the thin material of her Battle Suit—thump, thump, thump.
Linoshi's face grew even redder, like a burning sunset.
Her blue eyes darted around in panic, so shy she didn't know where to hide herself.
Her breathing was rapid and erratic, her chest heaving as her warm breath brushed softly against Rez's face.
"This... I really didn't do it on purpose." Rez was speechless. He tried to push himself up, but found the spaceship was still shaking slightly, making it impossible to stand.
He looked down, meeting those panicked and helpless blue eyes, and his heart softened.
