Far away, the air twisted in a wide open plaza.
Nox appeared with one hand still slightly raised, and his eyes moved across the place before him. The plaza was filled with people, beasts, stalls, training areas, and stone paths so clean they looked recently made.
He frowned a little. He was sure he had only been gone for a month at most, but the place before him did not feel like something built in that short time.
Children ran past with small beasts beside them. Merchants called out from wooden booths, young beast tamers argued over prices, and several guards moved through the crowd making sure a fight did not break out.
Nox looked around quietly. "Where exactly did I return to?"
A small boy stopped near him. He had messy brown hair, a curious face, and a small wolf cub hiding behind his leg while sniffing at Nox's boots.
The boy raised his head. "Mister, who are you?"
Nox looked down at him and said without answering his question, "Take me to the person in charge."
