Chapter 3: The Truth Revealed
As the group continued their journey to find the other Chosen Ones, Elizabeth became increasingly curious about Umbra's past and his magical abilities. One day, during a break in their journey, she decided to ask him about it.
"Umbra, can I ask you something?" Elizabeth asked hesitantly.
"Of course, what is it?" Umbra responded, curious.
"Well, I was just wondering… you've mentioned that you have these incredible abilities, but you never really explained how you came to have them. And, if it's not too personal, I was also wondering about your past."
Umbra was quiet for a moment, seeming to contemplate Elizabeth's request. Finally, he took a deep breath and began to speak.
"Elizabeth, I was born half-human, half-demon," Umbra revealed. "It's a rare and somewhat taboo combination, which is why I don't talk about it much."
Elizabeth was shocked but also intrigued. She had never met someone like Umbra before, and the idea of someone being half-demon and half-human was something that she had only read about in storybooks growing up.
Umbra went on to explain how he had grown up as an outcast, feared and shunned by both humans and demons. His abilities were regarded as strange and unnerving, and he had learned to keep them hidden.
However, when he had been approached by an angel who had told him of his destiny as a Chosen One, he had finally found a sense of purpose. He had set out on his journey, determined to use his abilities for the greater good.
Elizabeth was surprised and moved by Umbra's story. She had always found something different about him, but now she understood why. She felt privileged that she was trusted with his secret and grateful for the friendship that had grown between them.
The group continued on their journey, bonded closer than ever before. They were on the cusp of fulfilling their destiny as the Chosen Ones, and they knew that they would need each other in the battles yet to come.
