"Just find any movie."
Lu Zhenzhen tossed the remote over, Gao Zhe caught it, and found an older comedy to watch.
Lu Zhenzhen sat on the sofa hugging a llama plushie, while Gao Zhe didn't know whether he should sit or stand, stay or leave. The living room fell into a cold silence, making the laughter from the movie seem especially harmonious.
Gao Zhe sighed and went to the dining room to slice some fruits, peeling grapes, and placing them in a sectioned fruit tray. He inserted a strawberry-stemmed fruit fork and brought it back to the living room.
Lu Zhenzhen glanced at it, "No apples?"
"There are."
He returned to the dining room and felt the apples, noticing a layer of water on the skin. They had been in the fridge for several days, probably with cold cores. He dried them with a napkin, planning to warm them in his hands before slicing.
Lu Zhenzhen didn't call him, her back to him as she watched the movie.
